I used to, but not anymore. I've read research that links the chemicals found in disposable pads and tampons to increased problems during mentruation. Removing the chemicals by switching to cloth pads or to reusable tampon-like items, such as the Diva Cup or the Keeper, often results in less cramping, less bleeding, and averall easier periods. I've talked to many women who have made the switch and they all swear that their periods became so much easier, pain free, and even shorter. I gave in and made the switch myself and I can tell you that where once I had to take prescription pain relievers now I barely notice the cramps. I bleed a lot less and for fewer days. And I feel better.

It is no more gross than having dirty pads and tampons sitting around in the trash all day, and a lot less smelly too. With the pads some people keep a bucket of cold water that they toss them in then wash them at the end. remember that with cloth most women's cycles are cut down so we are talking 2 or 3 days tops. Some buy or make a special bag, often called a wet bag, that they hang somewhere to toss them. My bag is plastic lined, shuts with velcro, and is yellow with neon stars all over it. In the end I toss the entire thing in the wash. No big deal and my hands never get dirty.
The cups aren't rteally gross either. When you take a shower you pull it out and dumpt it down the drain, rinse it off, and reinsert. Or empty it when you use the toliet and rinse it in the sink.
Honestly, I've never found it to be any more gross. Its just people's culturally ingrained beliefs that a woman's body and bodily functions are "gross" and not to be touched. Once you get past the Puritan values and negative female body issues you find thatits not a big deal. And if it saves you from cramps and bad periods isn't that a good thing?
Read the links, I bet you'll be suprised. And let me add one more, this is from a journal of a very intelligent woman who made the switch recently.
