The gas prices are getting more and more ridiculous with the way they keep going up in price . If they keep it up , no one but the rich are going to be able to afford to keep their vechiles on the road . Friends and I are trying to combine on the trips we have to take where we go travel together to try and save back on the gas where I drive one week and they drive the following week and if I have to make more then one trip somewhere then I will try and see if I can change the times so I only have to go the once instead of repeatedly during the day . We don't go visiting the way we used to and stay home much more often now . Every little bit that we dont' have to go somewhere helps out a lot when it comes to paying for the price of gas and then we always try to fill up when the price lowers a bit so we are not paying full price when it sky rockets again , although we still end up having to pay the prices becauses someone always has to be able to get back and from work each day etc .

stop going to the places where you don't need to go. and while driving you can also save money by good driving technique, change gears quickly don't try to accelerate the car too much.

Hi All, Here are some tips on saving gas: 1. Tire pressure. Big contributor to the bottom line. Right pressure give the best avg.. Don't over or under pump the tire. The right pressure is usually indicated on the sticker on door site on the passenger side or owners manual. 2. Use the required octane level fuel as suggested by manufacture. Putting 83 grade in a premium engine will cause engine damage and lower gas mileage. Trust me, i speak from experience, the cost of repairing the engine will definitely out way the premium gas price 3. Clean or replace engine air filter periodically. If the engine does not get sufficient air it will not burn the fuel efficiently causing loss or power and low mileage. 4. High mileage engine need a carbon cleanup. The carbon deposits will lower the efficiency of the engine. Carbon cleaning can be done at a reputable mechanic shop, though I would suggest dealer is best, slightly higher price is worth it. The carbon cleaning is not a complicated process, usually a machine is attached to the car engine. This service is usually done everything 40 - 60 thousand miles. 5. Change the spark plugs. This can be self done with the proper tools. In most car the plugs are easily accessible but if not then take it to a reliable mechanic. If you feel the car is not getting enough power or feel vibrations while driving or standing at a lite then it is probably time to get them checked. 6. Fix the issue causing check engine lite. This usually means some internal failure which if not fixed in time will eventually lead to bigger issues. Check engine lite goes on indicating early symptoms of catastrophic failure. AUTOZONE provides service to get you the code causing check engine light. This is a free service. Take the code the research on the internet to understand the issue before going to a mechanic. Many repair shops take advantage of customer ignorance and rack up a big bill. Take several opinions. I hope this helps. I own a 1996 Maxima and have gone through several check engine lite issues so I have the experience. All the best Regards Ash
