If you're just looking for quick pageviews, celebrity gossip and breaking news are your best bets. Personally, I'm not good with news and I hate celeb gossip, so I just write on topics that interest me. Write content that is "evergreen," things that will not go out of style, and you should be able to bring in viewers for a long time to come. I usually try and write for the special content. I got an email from Associated Content that they are looking for articles on all these different TV shows. Also they tend to like seasonal stuff. So with summer coming up, you could try articles that relate to that subject (what you do in the summer, grilling recipes, protecting yourself from the sun, gardening...you get the idea).
