Another Story of My Son Stuart

I shared the story of my son Stuart a month or so ago and what a blessing he is to me and I'm thankful to be his mother. Well I need to share something that happened to him last week at school that was very special.
I didn't get to go but the school had Awards Day last Friday. When it was over Stuart had won two awards, one in History and one for being on the A/B honor roll. What made this story so special was what his teacher said about him. Two friends of mine who work at the school shared this with me and I cried like a baby.
His History teacher stood up to give the award. They said that before calling his name the teacher said "This young man may not be an athlete and not have an athletic number but he is still #1 and is #1 in your heart!" My friends told me that people were clapping all over the auditorium for Stuart. They said he was so happy he stuck his chest out and practically ran to the stage. When he received his award a short time later they said he ran even faster. :)
I had been so worried when Stuart started to High School because he don't usually adjust to change very well and he was extremely nervous about starting a new school. In fact, the first day one year ago he just cried crocodile tears before going because he was so nervous. But the teachers there have been so supportive of him and helped him so much. I told them when I went to get him registered that I didn't want him getting special treatment, we expect him to always do his work and make the best grades possible. Stuart has never asked for special treatment at school and has always participated well. Whenever I have gone for parent/teacher conferences it has been so wonderful to heart that he participates in class and works very hard.
I just wanted to share this story not to brag about my son but to share his accomplishments in spite of having a special need. I'm so thankful that he is overcoming the need that he has and is turning into a young man that his father and I are very proud of. We have always been proud of him, of course, but he is just doing greater than we expected and I just thank the Lord for him and again for the privilege of being his mother. :)
