Stupid Laws.

I was wondering if you know any stupid laws that your state (if you are from the US) or country has? I am talking about laws that makes you wonder what people were thinking. I was reading about some stupid laws that are on the books in Illinois. I couldn't believe some of these that I read. - One may not pee in his neighbor's mouth. (Champaign) Geez, now what will I do? - Cars may not be driven through the town. (Crete) Please get out and push the car where you need to go. - If one wishes to plant new sod in his or her yard in the summer months, that person may not use the city's water to water it. Additionally, the resident must obtain a permit from the city to water the lawn with outside water sources. ( Crystal Lake) I was wondering since you pay the city for the water you use doesn't that mean it should belong to you? - No person may keep a smelly dog. (Galesburg) Who gets to decide if the dog smells? - Bees are not allowed to fly over the village or through any of Kriland's streets. (Kirkland) I wouldn't want to be the one to enforce this law. I was able to find all of these laws and many others at http://www.bitoffun.com/Stupid_Laws.htm

Oh ho ho, let me rub my hands together for this one. To get a dicorce in Ireland is complicated. Here is one of the conditions: "The Divorce Act requires that you must have lived apart for at least four of the five years before proceedings are issued. You do not necessarily have to have been living in separate houses". Can you imagine having to wait out four years of seperation until you can divorce? Some people are able to get seperation agreements in that time, but it is usually a major headache. I think it was only '95 or '96 that the divorce act was instated. Before that you could seek a nullity, but not divorce.

Glad I don't live in Ireland. I agree that it shouldn't be easy to get a divorce but that is taking it to an extreme level.

No kidding. I can see why a lot of people are skipping legally formalizing their unions.

the laws you have mentioned are all stupid ones, i agree. but, i also believe that laws need not be promulgated if it will not make any difference in poeple's lives. there are so many problems which needs to be addressed, very pressing problems, and yet, people in congress and in the senate are talking about nonesense things like changing street names and national animals or birds, for that matter. they spend days and months on this yet, the people in our land needs more laws to be passed pertaining to law and order so our police force can have more teeth in enforcing and keeping the most needed peace and quiet in our environment.

I agree with you that the congress and senate do waste alot of time on trival matters that are such a waste of time. It makes no sense at all.

Well I am from Illinois but I think Indiana has some stupid laws that sound funnier. - Baths can't be taken between the months of October and March. -A man over the age of 18 can be arrested if he has a passenger in his car that is under the age of 17 if they aren't wearing any socks or shoes. The man is arrested for statutory rape. Ok, I wouldn't want to have to lay next to someone who hasn't taken a bath for 5 months. Ewww. And could you imagine a man driving his 5 year old somewhere and being arrested becaus ethe child took their shoes off? Looks like they need to take some lays off of the books.

my favorite for Indiana is "You can get out of paying for a dependent's medical care by praying for him/her." I guess that is one way to get out of paying the medical bills. NO one must carry medical debts in Indiana.

here is a stupid law which all the countries in the whole world are following and that law is that 49 cc motorbike or an electric cycle/ scooter which can only go upto a maximum speed of about 35 kilometers ( in some places/ countries limit is as less as 25 kilometers) is allowed to be driven without liscence and there is also no need of registration for it just think that how much speed a 49cc bike can attain is it only 35 or 40 kilometers...?

Well, my brother's 125cc motorcycle can only get up to 45, going down hill, with the wind to his back, and the 60cc mini enduro I grew up on only got up to about 35... so seriously, I don't see the problem here.
