American Idol Voting

I just started watching Dancing with the Stars this season, and I love how the voting works!!It evens the playing field for the contestants. I really think that American Idol needs to change how they tally their votes. Dialidol.com does not help the situation, by calling in and tracking votes, because they are placing votes themselves when they do this. Anyone else agree that American Idol should use a system similar to that of Dancing with the Stars? (if you are not familiar with Dancing voting system, their phone lines are only open for 30 minutes after the show, and you are only allowed to vote 5 times per phone line, and only 5 times on the internet.)

I completely agree that it would be more fair and balanced if they only allowed a certain number of votes per phone number. However, I don't think that Idol will change their voting rules. They love to boast about receiving 40, 50, 60 or 70 million votes. If it were limited, it wouldn't seem as impressive that 10 - 20 million votes were cast.

I think that would be a fair system. I told my wife I think there should be a max of 10 votes a line after Melinda got voted off. She was the best even though I liked Jordin better. However, Melinda appealed to an older audience and they tend to vote just once or not at all, unlike the younger ones who vote like crazy(my wife). I would like to see a new format next year because it would even it out. Melinda should have never been voted off before Blake.
