What do you do when your partner goes away?

My husband has gone away for a couple of weeks to help his parents. My only plans I have for while he is away is lots of housework. This is the best time to pack all of his stuff away. He has so much stuff and I am sick of looking at it all, it seems to be cluttering up nearly every room in my house. I might even be sneaky and throw a couple of things out that he won't miss, hehehehe!

I don't really do anything different than usual when my husband isn't here, except that I have to do the laundry myself! lol I do find it easier to keep the house clean if he isn't here to mess it up again. He hasn't been gone long at all since we've been married. He's going on his first real deployment next year, for five months. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I might just move back in with my parents for a while! lol If my sister isn't working yet, she will probably come up here and stay with us during most of it.

I actually like it when the kids have gone to bed at night and I am just on my own, to do what I want and enjoy the peace and quiet. It's very rare that I am on my own, so I enjoy it when I can. Thanks!

My husband is always gone, for sometimes months at a time. I think it's easier to clean the house when he's not around to mess things up! That's when I usually do my "spring cleaning" ;) I also have gone through his closets and thrown away the ugly tshirts with holes in them that he is somehow attached to. He never notices that when he comes home.

My husband has those tshirts too, I find it easier to clean when he is not around too, maybe because it's his mess that I am cleaning up and I am usually told not to touch it, hehehe! Thanks!

My kids are old enough to realize that Daddy is gone so I try hard to keep them busy so they don't get sad =) But I love watching TV and getting on the computer whenever I want to and not worry about him! I would definitely throw away some of his junk if he had too much!!

My husband has way too much junk. He always says that he might need it one day and I have to agree there has been times when that has happened. I just don't have room for all of his stuff anymore, I am careful with what I throw out though, I will only throw it out if I know he has not even touched it for a few years. Deep down though, I wish I could just get rid of everything, lol! Thanks!

*LOL* I don't live with my boyfriend but we spend every night together when he's in town so besides maintaining seperate residences, we pretty much do. He works out of town for about 5-6 months out of the year, and when he's gone, I get caught up on housework, groom my dog and cat, read, go swimming, play in my garden, watch all the chick flicks he groans about and visit with friends.

It's definitely a good time to do the things that you sometimes don't get time for when they are around. Or like you said, watch the shows that you like when they are not there. Thanks!

I think it is so much easier to get stuff done around the house when my husband isnt here. I miss him when he isnt here so i keep myself busy. It is a great time to go through their things. Sometimes i think they can be worse than kids with the amount of 'junk' they keep. My hubby has a massive shed with so much in it but he doesnt like to part with anything. When we last moved, i made him get rid of some of his stuff. He wasnt happy. Make sure you do something for yourself though while he is away, as you will enjoy it and i am sure you deserve it. best wishs to you

Your husband sounds like mine, I am sure he has more junk than the kids too. I miss my husband too, but sometimes it is the only time to go through his stuff because when he is home he will tell me not to touch it or he will sort it out later, for some reason he never gets around to sorting it out. I think he thinks it will magically do it by itself, lol! I will do something for myself too while he is away. Thanks!

i think im the one who is more cluttery and messy, so he is the one who probly likes it when i go away! i like to just be able to watch the programs on tv that i like, and maybe not dress as nice, or wear makeup during the day... just little things that i would normally do-i take a break from. it seems like there is always housework to be done, and it never ends!

I know what you mean by housework never ends, sometimes I can have a room perfect and then half an hour later it looks like it was never done. Thanks!
