I know that this is not a very deep or meaningful discussion but I was wondering do you prefer Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip? Why and what do you use either of them on?

Growing up, I was only exposed to mayonnaise. But when I got married, my husband only liked Miracle Whip. Being only 16 yrs old at the time, I didn't have much of a voice and so that is all that was purchased. And since I didn't really use it that much, I didn't care either. But now, I have gotten used to it. And actually, I mix it with ketchup to make "pink ketchup" for french fries. hehe Other than that, I will use it to make potato salad and such. But my partner uses it for his sandwiches also.

I didn't see that alert. But I did see a discussion about it...another user posting that she had her's deleted and myLot sent her an email saying recipes were not allowed. It is probably because if one posts a recipe...and just a recipe...there is not much that a person can respond to with besides some form of, "Mmmm, that sounds good." Plus, if some goes to the Food Network or any other recipe site, it is pretty easy to copy and paste that as a discussion and that person does not really deserve credit for creating a discussion. As for potato salad. It is actually one of the easiest things to make. :) Just cook the potatoes and add the other stuff to your liking. Here is what I put in mine and this can not be considered a recipe. ha ha Potatoes, Miracle Whip, small amount of A-1 sauce, small amount of mustard, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, finely chopped celery, and my mom likes to put boiled eggs on top. I am not fond of the boiled eggs...but some people like it. Of course, salt and pepper to taste. And when I mentioned A-1 sauce, it is not uncommon for stores to add a splash of Worcestershire sauce...me, I think A-1 is better. ha ha. Trust me, try to just throw it all together. You will be surprised that you will not mess it up! :) One words of advice though. Make sure that you let the potatoes cool completely. If you don't, you will have mashed potatoes when you stir it. ha ha

The potato salad sounds wonderful I just haven't tried to hake any of the variable salads (ham, chicken, potato, etc.) except egg salad. That and I am not very adventurous when it comes to trying to make my own thins in the kitchen.

Hey Tia How are things going with you? I have noticed a recent lack of recipes here on mylot was there a new alert about not posting recipes? Because I was hoping to talk you out of your potato salad recipe. I am hoping it will be cheaper to make potato salad rather than buting it all of the time in the summer.

I always use Miracle Whip. Mayo tastes like a bad substitute with too much sugar added to it ...bleh!!

Miracle Whip - Just a bottle of Miracle Whip
Miracle Whip is a condiment very similar to mayonnaise, except in flavor. There are knock-offs everywhere that they call "salad dressing" although I can't imagine using just miracle whip on a salad. The pic is self explanatory. It seems that they haven't tried to market it over in the U.K. Although I don't know why not, but I am sure you could special order it if you are really wanting to try it.

I'm definately a Mayo girl. I do not like Miracle Whip. Yuck! It's way to sweet. I don't eat Mayo very often and I'm trying to convert to a soy based mayo... I used it on vegie subs until recently when I've switched to hummus. I also use it to make potato salad. Not real anything else.
