Is there a reason to resolve your discussions?

I read through people's posts about resolving disussions, and how it's a hassle and such. And I'm thinking to myself - why resolve discussions. (By the way, if you don't know what I'm talking about, it's the last link under discussions in the left hand column). I never even knew we were supposed to resolve them. I have like 7 pages of unresolved discussions! p.S. anybody know how to add a picture to the background of your profile?

Well all I know is that the person you mark with a best response gets a little more money for it. I suppose it mentally finishes off that discussion for you aswell - If I've marked a best response I rarely go back to them.

I started resolving discussions just a week ago. Like you I was wondering what was the purpose from doing that. I think that at least it helps with the reputation (the star number). It's really easy to do it and I usually pick the best response according to the length of the response if the answers are all the same. Otherwise I just pick up the one that answered more accurately. Good luck!

i do not think you have to resolve any discussions.it is an open ended discussion letting everyone gets the chance to answer your questions.you may learn from someone new.i would suggest that you let it stay there and it is meant to be that way.

REsolving discussions? This is new to me. When a discussion that I have started stops getting responses, I just forget about them. Eventually they will get deleted, or atleast I think they would. Even if they don't get deleted, who cares?

The link that says "my unresolved discussions" means discussions in which you have not given a best response to. Giving a best response is not completely necesary to do, it helps out the person you are giving it to. Whoever you felt were deserving of it. It is just a nice thing to do, go through and give best responses, it will help u to build a better rep on mylot as well.

A discussion is not really even something that can be resolved. If you mean an argument, then those can get ugly and polarizing, and often times one side does turn out to be right. But a discussion is a healthy, friendly exhange of views and ideals, so is more of a tool for information, so it would be silly to 'resolve' them.

Some do, some don't, some get wet... It all depends on the discussion. If I find a really good response, zI will pick it, but if I don't, well, I don't.
