i think people need to be aware of dodgy ebayers! i have come across an ebayer who runs a fishing business in adelaide australia, he goes by the name of 'torrensflyfishing' i recently purchased $80 worth of his items, a DVD and a VHS video being the most expensive item plus a book, when i received the items i could clearly see the DVD AND VIDEO were fake/copied/burnt and not originals and are VERY POOR QUALITY. when you pay $30 per DVD you expect top qualiity dvd's and originals. i then emailed the seller asking for a refund which he straight away refused. i disputed the item through paypal but paypal asked for a written document from a video store to say they are fake which had to be faxed to the US, of course no video store wants to get there company involved so the pr@#k got to keep my money, and theres nothing i can do about it, i sugguest any one who has delt with or considering buying from this ebay to stay clear from him, i have also spoken to other customers of his who have brought dvds from him and they also believe they are fake. if you have delt with this seller please let me know your experience and DO NOT TRUST THIS SELLER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

And you couldn't tell from the description that it was a home made DVD you bought? If you could then it was your own fault, but if not then I would have been very mad as well.

Maybe you asked for some dvd that are not available yet of some recent movies, if that was the case then you should now that the movies were copies since a movie take about 2 month or more to be available in dvd format. And it is always a shoot in the dark when dealing with people we don't know, and that are not physically possible to contact. Can't you make a complain about him to ebay? maybe they can do something about your case.

I'm curious, did you check his feedback before you bought from him? I've been buying and selling on ebay for over 5 years and that's the first thing I do before even placing a bid. I also have to say there are as many dodgy buyers as there are sellers. I've been screw** by many of them making me now have to only accept Paypal payments. I have to say though I'm very surprised that the buyer won the dispute with Paypal.

Thanks for your message. Over the years there have been a lot of scam artists all over ebay. From people buying items with stolen credit cards or those selling items that never depart the shipping location or selling items that dont really exist, ebay has seen it all. I have worked with a lot of small businesses that have had an eBay startup and they always complained about the low level of protection for sellers and buyers where either way one can be scammed with the use of fake identification or fake credit cards. I hope ebay will take better action but i doubt anything will get done soon!
