IF you bottlefed your babies when did you want them off of it? and when did you actually get them off of it? How did you get them to quit taking it???My son wasn't off til he was 2 and a half and I had wanted him off by a year and a half. I got him off of it by getting him to throw his bottle in the garbage and getting him a special sippy cup that he could take to be with him.

My son isn't quite five months, and he already prefers not to use a bottle. He'll take a bottle right before a nap or bedtime, but the other times all he wants is baby food. He'll fuss a bit when I give him his bottle even if he's thirsty, but he takes it eventually. I don't think I'll have a problem weaning him off the bottle. My nephew is ten months and loves his sippy cup. He's at the point where he'll refuse to drink out of anything but his blue sippy cup. We got him two, but he knows which one is his old one. Cute, but a hassle.

oh geesh no kidding I didn't have any pain while weaning with either of my kids because they stopped slowly and when weaning thats what you need to do. I let my girl choose when she was done and she was 8 months old when she was ready to wean

I had to go back to work full-time, and my milk wouldn't stop fast enough, so it was up with cabbages. :P

My little kid was a long time bottle drinker. And, I know what you must have gone through. It's frustrating sometimes dealing with the kids when they just don't want to move to the next stage. I explained to mine that she was too old for milk in a bottle, and would only put water in her bottle. That seemed to cure her desire for the bottle. Course by then she was already onto big people foods and didn't need a bottle for nutrition. In fact, I did find that her need for a bottle actually made her want to eat less real solid foods. That's my experience with bottles.

yea I had the exact sme problem with my son he would drink and drink and drink but never eat and if he did it was never anything healthy drove me nuts. My daughter has started doing the same thing and shes only 10 months. I am thinking of only giving her bottles for nap and bed time so I can try to combat this. I want her to eat properly

Hello. Based on theories, age 2 is really the right age to get kids off the bottle. It would be great if they could get off before two but not all kids are the same. Forcing a kid to get off before he is ready will create anxiety and emotional issues in him that may progress to later ages. My kid is now two. She knows how to use a cup already but there are times when she's in a bad mood and really prefers a bottle. If I can't talk reason to her, i just don't force her . Our kids will eventually get off the bottle completely in good time.
