Okay, we have our simple words, prefixes, nouns, past tense, past progressive, pas perfect progessives, etc...Well, I'm hoping on discussing Past Tenses...
We have SIT and SAT....SAT is the past tense of SIT. Then we have FIT.
Why cant the past tense of FIT, be FAT? Sure Fat means obeasity, but it sounds like it should be the Past Tense of FIT.
"It fat in there perfectly" or "I made sure it fat okay."
To me, it sounds like it works! Why?
SWAM and SWUM. Which is it?? "I swam." or "I swum." and before anyone comments the "SWAM/SWUM Section", i'd like you all to know that Swum is one of the "correct" ways to say the past tense of Swim.
I just dont understand this! FAT could be past tense of FIT if Sat/Sit go together. This might be a stupid subject but i just say what comes to mind. What do YOU guys think?

It is not a question of what should be what or, why can we not have it like this way or that way. A language is what it is. As simple as that.
All languages have rules but there are exceptions also. In fact, a language is more likely to gain popularity and grow more if it has got exceptions. Perfect languages have not grown well and are not really popular.
It is better to leave the logic part aside and remember what is what.
If you insist that FAT be taken as the past tense of FIT then, someone may inform you that DID is the past tense of DAD. That would not be very good. What say you, huh?
So, better, do not apply too much of logic.

Well...actually, Did is the past tense of DO, and Dad doesnt have a past tense because it is the name of a person... You do however have a VERY valid point... this only came to mind because a student in my class was talking really fast and said "Cant we use this word? I used it and it fat in there...oh haha i mean fit, it fit in there" lol, but good reponse. Thanks!
