Community Colleges. The 13th grade?

I plan on going strait into Valencia Community College after I'm done with high school. I share this with some of my friends and most look down upon it. Even some of my teachers. They say going into a community college is like going into the 13th grade. That sounds like an insult. That's like saying you're not fit to doing college work. They don't know the situations for people who choose to take a community college. I here it's better than just going strait into a University because the classes are smaller. That's not the reason why I choose to go to a community college. What's your view on Community Colleges?

I think community colleges are a good idea, I mean the classes are smaller and you get a one on one interaction with your professors rather than being a number in the big universities. I don't think people should look down on community colleges, some of the best schools are community colleges.

Yes! The community college I'm going to is one of the best in the state. I want to start at Valencia Community College. I have a friend whose out of high school and attends Valencia. He says that the slogan "Valencia- a better place to start" is not a joke. Thanks for your response!

I see nothing wrong with attending a Community College. I've heard many people say that going to a Community College for the first two years is a smart move because it saves you a ton of money. Then you can transfer your credits to a 4 year college after you've done your 2 years at the Community College.

That's my plan! It does save you a ton of money rather than just going strait into a four year College. I used to hear that from many people, the fact that it's smarter this way. It's not like that where I live though. A lot of my friends puts down community colleges.

Ignore your friends and do what's best for you. Community college can be just as good as a four year colleg. If you plan to go on for a four-year degree, your first two years are much cheaper than going straight to a university. All you need to worry about is whether the community college has the classes you need and whether the credits are transferable. Good luck.

Yeah they are definitely possible. I've done my research on the college and I got information from my friends who already attend Valencia. It's going to be my last year in high school and I need to start paying more attention to these things. When I come out of a community college, I will have my Associates Degree. After that I will transfer into a 4-year University to get my Master's Degree.

I think community colleges are a great option for people. You're right in saying that others don't know the situation for students going to community colleges. Don't worry about what they say. A lot of my friends are going to a cc for several reasons. I don't go to one, but I see nothing wrong with it.

It sure is the best option for me. I don't see why people put down community colleges either. Despite the differences, it's still college. It shouldn't be looked down upon. Thanks!
