Is rice your staple food. Do you eat rice as much as we Asians do? If not what do you normally eat for lunch and dinner?

My staple food is rice especially am from Philippines. Most of the people here go for rice as staple food. From breakfast to Dinner rice could never be removed in the list. Even some people who are poor just eat rice and they would be contented already even without the main course.

Rice is not an Australian staple food. However, Australia grows it's own rice & it is becoming more & more popular. Our family love rice. Our favourires are basmati & jasmine. I also buy a rice that is higher in protein.

These are also two of my favourite brand of rice. It is quite expensive here. I didn't know that Australia is also growing their own rice. I thought rice do not grow in temperate climate. My family owns large area of rice field but prefer to buy rice in the supermarket.

Yes, rice is a staple food for me as I am an Asian too. Most of the time, I have rice for lunch and dinner although I don 't mind having noodles, bee hoon or Malay and Indian food for a change.

I'd say pasta is my staple food, but rice comes a close second. In my part of the world potatoes should be my number one staple food, but we simply don't eat them that often. My parents on the other hand eat potatoes almost every day. We eat a lot of bread too, usually for lunch.

Potato is foreign to us as rice is to westerners. I think they are equally very filling.

Well we have many kinds of food here, and most people eat rice from time to time, it i usually not their staple food. I know that in my family whole rice is the staple food, we eat it everyday, and there will always be rice in the house. I know that i like it very much, and probably it will always be my staple food.

It is no difference with most families, rice being the daily food.

Rice and fish or rice and minced meat is my daily staple food. We make varieties of foods from rice, such as dumplings(steamed round shaped), pan cakes(ferment the rice batter and fry it on a pan in round shape), kanji (gruel), Puttu( Powder the rice and steame it). Aslo we use puffed rice, beaten rice and broken rice to make various dishes and pungents.

We have rice maybe once or twice a week, I don't know what our staple would be, maybe vegetables? Because we have them at every meal (well not breakfast), I try to offer them all the time because they are good for us =) My two-year old little boy loves rice though so we will probably start eating it more often just for him!! Do you eat rice with every meal every day?? Does it get boring?? I love rice but can't eat it all the time.

I have been eating rice since I was a baby, well that time it was made into porrige. Rice is a necessity here. It has never been boring eating rice everyday. It is served with a variety of dishes. I find no other dishes more filling than rice.

Rice is mainly our staple food especially since i'm from the philippines but it's not like i really crave for it. for most meals i eat rice (and a lot of it) since it provides a lot of energy. my metabolism's is quite high and i do mostly thinking work so i need the calories (i usually have more than two servings). but i don't limit myself to rice in my meals (aside from the viand of course). i love taking in wheat bread and a lot of pastries even during dinner which is not particularly usual in our place. i usually eat bread as opposed to rice when i'm in a hurry or if i eat outside.
