Prince of Persia movie!!!!!

No, no your eyes don't deceive you, this is not the same discussion. I did start a discussion earlier that should there be a prince of persia movie. Apparently, lots of people think there should be. At least Jerry Bruckheimer, the creator of Pirates of the Caribbean seems to think so.
That's right, that guy just grabbed the rights to the movie. And the prince of persia movie is set to release in late 2008 or summer 2009.
First of, thanks to Harish for replying to my previous discussion about this and informing me about it. So I looked it up on the net and it is true. Now according to him, Josh Holloway, the hottie of "lost" is supposed to play the prince. But when I looked it up, I couldn't confirm that, and according to one site, an actor called Charlie Clausen is supposed to play the part, looked at his picture, he would be good too.
Anyway, the actor's not confirmed yet, but the director sure is. Michael bay, he did movies like armageddon, pearl harbor, bad boys 1 and 2, so I guess the movie's in good hands.
Finally a good game movie. Hopefully.
This one will be the first one, sands of time, and if it does well, which I'm sure it will then they'll do the whole trilogy.
Can't wait for it.
Come on, people aren't you excited about this one?????

OMG!! Are you serious! I've always thought it would be so cool if they made it into a movie!! Can you tell me any links i can go to and check this out?? I would be totally excited!

It's interesting that Jerry Bruckheimer has picked up the rights for this...wasn't really sure that this would have been his kind of thing, but with any luck this should be good.
Micheal Bay doing this as well? Could be very interesting, especially with his upcoming Transformers movie (out in July if I remember correct).
The problem is...it's a game movie and they have a curse....of being total and utter garbage (with the exceptionof a few). I seriously hope this does not succumb to the cure of the crud game movie...and I guess we shall find out in the fullness of time.

Well, let's just hope it's one of those few good exceptions. I do have a good feeling about this one, but yeah, we'll have to wait and see. Just the fact that Jerry Bruckheimer is doing it and Michael Bay ain't so bad himself, I think there is a glimmer of hope. As I said before, if they can make a fabulous movie off of a theme ride then this should be much easier.
I did read that they said they would stay true to the game, capture the whole essence of it, and it is going to be based on the first one, sands of time, where the prince has a little help from Farah, but the story wouldn't be exactly the same. I just hope they will work together with the game makers on this one.

There is one thing more worrying than the video game movie curse...and that is if they make a gamev of the movie of the game. This has been done in the past and to be frank they are usually amazingly terrible.
But...we shall see how things go.

Not really. I am no great fan of the game and Michel Bay is not my idea of a great director. The biggest problem is that movies made from video games are generally pretty bad. I can't even think of a good one right off hand, just a bunch of mediocre movies and some real bad ones (Super Mario Brothers anyone?).

Well, yeah, I've sort of had that experience myself with most game movies, but there have been a few good ones, like resident evil and silent hill.
And the only reason I'm excited about this is because of Jerry Bruckheimer. If anyone can bring POP to the big screen, he can. I mean he did have a great part in making a great trilogy from a amusement park ride, so I'm sure he can do great with this one too.
