very simple, because one's addicted, both mentally and physically. you cannot understand it if you've never smoked. I am an ex smoker and i know it very well.

i have been advising my sister to quit smoking because of the harm it may give her. she did not take heed to my advice until she was diagnosed to have 'spot' on her lungs. then she stopped. she was adamant. she yielded to her own caprices. she simply did not follow what we advised her to do. i think it's simply disobedience and unmindful of the negative effects of smoking which led her to suffer today. no one else would blamed but herself.

how would you say she was not guided well when, in fact, she was a nurse by profession? she knew very well about the danger of smoking yet she was really adamant, i should say. she worked abroad for quite sometime and had always telling us that was her own choice, her life per se.

People smoke because they are addicts. Unfortunately a lot of people start smoking because they think it's "cool." Unfortunately, in thinking they are cool, they become addicted, and endanger their health. People will go to just about any length to fit in.
