The Mexican Border

Ok, so I use to be dead set against Mexicans moving into the states, sneaking over the border. But come on! This use to be their land.
BUT (and it's a big one), get your citizenship!!!!! Pay taxes like the rest of us!!! If American citizens were (God forbid) ever drafted again, you best believe I want non-tax-paying non-citizens paying for THEIR freedom along with the rest of us! So, although, this land use to belong to Mexicans (and Native Americans), it's not the land they use to own. It's now full of opportunities. THAT IS why EQUALITY is IMPORTANT.
And, with the former mention of Native Americans, I am deeply sorry for my other ancestors (being part Native American myself). There is ABSOLUTELY nothing that European descendants could do to pay you back.

I completly agree with you on this one. Why not let them pay taxes and fight the wars if thats what they want to do.

Wow, thank you for the great response (to both). I hate getting into personal opinions when it comes to politics, everyone has their right to speak their mind but anymore (especially on the internet), people get to thinking they are the only ones that have rights to opinions and will tell you you are just wrong. Silly, isn't it?
But I am glad I posted my concerns this time around! They've laid heavy on my heart and mind.

i couldnt agree with you more!!
you know your statement about the Draft...that kind of scares me. cause IF a draft was in effect, ONLY citizens would be on the "rolls" we WOULD be fighting unwillingly (cause if it was willing then there would not be a draft) for their freedoms, without they having to worry at all about it themselves.
as for this land belong to others before us..very true. but as for land owned by mexico..we fought for it and drove them out (well pretty much).
but in the case of the native americans..we massacred them instead. now that cannot be re-paid, even though it should be.
a terribly sad and shameful part of the USA's history.
