our fingers... - why are they not of the same height?

why our fingers and toes are not of the same height? why wasn't the pinky created as tall as the middle finger, i wonder?

I can't say that I've ever wondered about this, but I guess, when we "meet our maker" we can ask then. Seriously, though, there must be some evolutionary advantage to it. Can you imagine what it would be like walking on feet where all the toes are the same length? I think I would be stumbling all the time.

that could explain the toes, but the fingers? i tried imagining holding something with all fingers the same length, it could be hard, too. maybe, it would be difficult to grasp something.

I figure if our fingers and toes were all the same Length then it would be more difficult for us to grab on to things or pick them up. we would not be able to move in the same way as we do now.

I thin the fingers need to be of different length to be of better use to us: for grabbing, holding etc I think the toes need to like they are to ensure maximum balance.

correct! imagine holding a glass with all fingers the same height.....
