Would you ever consider having cosmetic surgery?

I know a lot of people have been going the surgery route these days to fix their fine lines/wrinkles, enhance their breasts, remove cellulite and so on. We were discussing this with my family and I even though of having a breast lift in the future. My family thinks it is a waste of time and money. I don't. I think in moderation that if it makes you feel better about yourself why not? What do you think?

in a way i think its a waste of money but depending on your person situation to if its a waste or not, the only thing i would want done is my teeth and i would be happy, im saving now so in a year or 2 i can get braces on. if i had the money i would have them now.

I would like to get my teeth done, I have severe gingivitis and I need to get my teeth whitened, I love coffee and it isn't loving my teeth. It is quite expensive as you guys said, and I have to wait a little while! LOL

I also need work done on my teeth. They are in terrible condition! Braces are incredibly expensive aren't they? I hope you can save the money up. Have you thought about getting an individual plan that could offset some of the dental cost? I used to have one called American Denticare. For an individual plan it is very minimal and you can include orthodontics, they pay up to 50% of the cost. Might be something to investigate! Take care!

Although there was a need for cosmetic surgery, I preferred it to be natural. Also the cost is one of the considerations to do away with c.surgery.

Some insurance companies pay for cosmetic surgery, provided the body/face is involved in accident and if it is restoration act. Otherwise it is treated as beautification act and hence insurance companies do not pay for such expenses.

ssh you are right that most insurance companies will cover the surgery if it involves reconstruction of the body by no fault of your own. Thanks for the comment!

Yes the cost is substantial when it comes to this kind of surgery. I certainly can't afford it right now and what I want done is considered cosmetic and won't be covered by the insurance I have. so that stinks! LOL

thanks for commenting ling! I understand your thoughts and your right, other things might be of more importance than cosmetic surgery which of course would be considered a luxury to most people such as myself.

thanks for the comment. I think it is great that you did the research and didn't just jump in feet first without thinking. Too many people do that and end up regretting their decision or end up choosing the wrong doctor and end up disfigured because they were in a hurry and didn't want to do the necessary research. thanks!

Hi mamasan! on my own opinion, i dont agree for the surgery specially on my body parts, its better to remain it as is than have regret after doing so, what God had given to us is a gift for us though it is for us to develop but not in our body parts coz according to the belief and study of my religion (catholic) our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, so we have to respect and love it. As i have said it is just base on my own opinion and belief so i respect yours.. Well try to think it over and over again and pray hard before you decide. God Bless!

Thanks for commenting and I really respect your opinion! I believe that it is everyones right to do as they feel necessary to make their body more complete, but I see what you are saying. I have always been taught that God doesn't make mistakes and he gave us what we have and we are perfect in his eyes. I do respect and love my body, but I also see where I could improve, unfortunately that is the human part of me! LOL, but thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Yes, I would certainly consider it if I would really need it and if it would make me feel better about myself. I dont see anything wrong with cosmetic surgery and the people who undergo it. It is just like, uhm.. and upgrade for yourself, and there is nothing, at least I think there isnt, wrong or immoral about that. I wonder why people detest those who goes under the knife to make themselves feel better and more in sync with their bodies. It is their own bodies... and they can do whatever they want with it, they have every right. What you can do to help, is just give suggestions or advice to people who want to undergo it. :) I just hope people would be more openminded about these things. It would do a lot of good to a person if she feels better about herself... its better to do that than just go on life hating your reflection in the mirror because you cared too much about what other people said. If you want to do it, then go.. hehe dont ever let other people make you feel like you dont deserve what you want... thats what I reckon. :) Blessed be

I feel the same, it is kind of like upgrading your computer hehehe. I feel that we all have the right to feel good about ourselves, I mean if you were born with something that coule be fixed with cosmetic surgery such as a cleft lip, certainly go for it or later on in the years I think it is a good option if you have loose skin from weight loss or you broke your nose and need to have it fixed. Why not?

I think that this is a personal choice and that as long as you are not doing it for someone else but for yourself I really see nothing wrong with it.

Nope I would never have anything like that done as it would not be me I would be false and not the Person I am now and I have always believed that The People that do it are throwing away the Person they are and turning themselves into another Person

I think it is up to each person. I personally would be too much of a chicken to have it done. But, I don't think less of someone who has had it. If you want it done and it will make you feel better about yourself, then go for it.

It does take a lot of thought and it is scary. I don't know if I could actually go through it. I would be very scared of the pain afterwards. I heard it is excruciating and you have some down time that goes with it as well. But, for others, I think that if they can handle it and have the money why not?

well there are instances when u really feel ur body to be awkward n u feel so embarassed...u wish ur body had been the way u think but that cant happen naturally n u need to go for artificial ways...i dont think theres any harm in them if u can just afford it...

Thanks for the comment! I think that is a good way of putting it. The affording part is the hardest lol.
