River Taff

I was walking along the Taff Trail (which is a cycle and walking path) that runs along the River Taff from Cardiff (Wales,UK) miles up into the Welsh Valleys. I was particularly taken by the stillness of the river and the way the trees refected in it and wished I had a camera, but then I realised I did, my little Samsung mobile phone was in my pocket.
I set it to the highest setting and took the shot. When I got it home, I didn't think it would print too well, but it did. I got it to an A4 size, printed it and framed it. Amazing what you can do with a little camera phone..
Feel free to share your idea and/or pics. I rate every response..

Hi Derek
I live in the same neck of the woods - I took a photo of those mandarin ducks in Roath park the other day with my cellphone and the shot was uncannily good! sometimes those cameras just capture the magic...I loaded the picture into my pictures on my profile

Welcome fellow Cardiffian! Just looked at your duck photos on Roath Park Lake. Good quality from a mobile phone there. BTW, mine's a Samsung D600 - got it from Car Phone Warehouse on Newport Road for my last birthday. :-)
I live up by Cathays Library a few minutes walk from Roath Park, but funnily enough I haven't been down there for ages. Will have to get down there with my camera and perhaps video too.
Some people run away from the Canada Geese - they don't do anything if you just stand there, they are just looking for something to eat. If I see someone else there with a camera phone taking photos I'll say, "You're taking those for myLot!" And when they look at me strange, I'll know it's not you! LOL

Wow.. You were brave, I don't think I would like to grab a swan like that, I hear they can break a man's arm with one of their wings. But if it was going blue in the face (if it's possible for a swan to do that), I don't think it would have thought much about breaking one of your arms. LOL

That is an amazing picture that you took with you cell phone. I have seen some pictures that my grandaughter has taken with her cell phon and they are nothing to compare with the results that you got. By the way here in the US that would be called a creek ot stream . Our rivers are quit large.

Amazing picture of a river you have there. I really must get to the States and see these sights. A stream over here is a little thing that you can step over. All to do with size I suppose. The River Taff is not huge, but still called a river. The River Severn, separating Wales from England is much wider (a couple of miles) as it flows into the Bristol Channel.
It was the first time I ever took a "proper" picture on my cell phone, I had only messed about with it before, so the results were quite surprising. Thanks for commenting. :-)

If l didn't know better l would think that is the French Broad river that runs threw my county and goes all the way into Tennessee. Very nice shot you captured with your cell phone. Its amazing what those phones are capable of doing these days.

Thanks for posting. It's funny how places in different countries thousands of miles apart can look so similar. The Taff river often reminds me of the films I've seen of the Amazon River on TV. I know it's much smaller, it's the trees and the rain we get here in South Wales.. :-)

What an incredible and amazing River Taff you have witnessed and see with your own eyes, :-). How I do wish I could see some of those beautiful nature myself and even take a picture on it with my own phone, so I could also have my own souvenir about the place. This is awesome derek and just looking at it, makes me feel good and relax within myself...it truly looks very peaceful and I like it's calmness in the pic itself. :-)

Thank you for your comments. It is a place I go walking quite often and it is a restful place, yet it is only 10 minutes from where I live and the main road into Cardiff is just through the trees on the right of the picture. You can hear the traffic in the background the the echos from the woodland birds seem to be more prominent. :-)
