What is your method of Cleaning your house?

I was just curious to know what method people use to clean house. Do you tend to stay in one room and clean it until it is done, or do you tend to pick something up from one room and take it to the room it belongs, and then do something in that room while you are there? That is the way I tend to clean. Just earlier this morning, I was in the living room folding towels, when the phone rang and I went to the kitchen to answer it and then after hanging up the phone, I unloaded the dishwasher and loaded it again. So what is your method?

I usually tidy up first and then clean room by room. However I do sometimes flit around and then realise that I'm wasting energy with what I'm doing. Once it is tidy and clean I hoover up everywhere so I don't have to keep getting it out.

Thanks for responding. I usually do the room to room thing, because it seems there is always something in a room that goes in the other room. But I have stayed focused on one room until it is done. I think it depends on what room it is, and what mood I am in.

I wish I could remember to clean the house, room by room. But, usually I'll see a piece of paper or clothing that belongs somewhere and fly out of the room to put it where it belongs. Then I never get back to cleaning the room I was just in. It's so funny. I have a perpetually half cleaned house. Maybe the room to room idea would work better. I should just clean one area first, and get it done. I think the only room that I clean that way is the kitchen, cause I've got all my cleaning supplies in there. Housecleaning is not my strongest point!

I'm easily distracted and end up being all over the place. I used to take one day out of the week to do stuff like dusting, oragnizing closets, vacuuming and/or shampooing carpets, but since I've been on myLot, my housecleaning techniques are crazy. Now, I do my dishes in between pages (sometimes the water gets cold and I have to start over), I do my laundry at night, and I dusted the other day when my electric went off for 1 hr. due to storms. My carpets haven't been cleaned in a week, so thanks for the reminder.

I actually resign on doing too much of the housework around here. I have an 18 year old daughter still at home, and she always has her friends over, and if she don't mind entertaining in a messy house, then I'm not worried about it either. I will be glad when I can have my home to myself and be able to just keep up after myself.

I will put a load of laundry in the morning, before going to work, and switch it out the next morning before going to work again. I clean my cousins house that lives next door as well. So I load and unload 2 washers and dishwashers in the morning before heading to work. I work 50-60 hours a week, so this is the best time for me to do this.

When I worked I would start my laundry before work too, but then I get distracted with the whole house cleaning thing and end up running late for work. I also have a hard time getting out of bed too, so getting up early enough to get it all done never worked either. It takes a lot of organization to work that many hours and even do others chores as well. Good Job!

I am one of those multi taskers that forgets what she was doing 2 minutes ago!! I can be in the midst of cleaning the kitchen, the bedroom, and the livingroom all at the same time! Normally, I vacuum the entire house, then, do all the hardwood floors, then, clean the bathrooms. So, I don't just stay in one room beginning to end. I am alot like you. . . wherever I am, I clean or put away, or do something productive.

This problem is every intersting. I often do two cleaning in week. Generally ,I clean our room by dust collector . I often clean all the room . I can take some clothing and shoes which are not be used for these days into the cabinet. I do the washing often on weekend morning. I can put the clothing into the washing machine and go to bed agin. Two hour later i take out the clothing and have a bash ,then i had some food and waching TV. After my breakfast ,I began to clean my kitchen and room. When i am working ,i often put the telephone in the place where i can take it easy.

Thanks for responding. Good suggestion about taking the phone into the room you are cleaning, to avoid being distracted by another room that needs attended to.

hard work & dedication, me i don't care what method do i use, one thing i know is to oblige myself to clean the house & make a part of my life as a responsibilities, to be able to achieve, you should have the determination of doing it, so that you can finish everything.

I tend to start in one room and clean it properly until it's done then move to the next room and clean that too. That's how i clean the house. I tend to first sweep the floor with a broom and then clean it wet duster. I arrange all things in their place be it books whom i dusted, food items, utensils washed and so on. And throw all the garbage in the garbagebin. Cheers.:)

For some reason I always start with the kitchen first. I stay in one room until the entire thing is cleaned. Whatever has to be put in to another room I put there but go right back to where I started. If I do many rooms at once I feel like I am getting nowhere.

The way that I clean my house is that I clean one room at a time. I usually start in the bathroom move to the kitchen then the bedrooms and the living room last. After I am all done cleaning and dusting I vaccume all in the carpets in the house. Than I have my cup of coffee to relex.

We just moved to a new place, and one of my goals is to try to keep it as tidy and clean as possible. For right now, I've been really keeping on cleaning up any mess I make as soon as I make it. So if I am cooking dinner, the dishes go straight into the dishwasher, and I run it as soon as it's full. I start work tomorrow, though, and I suspect that it will be a little more difficult to keep up on the household chores. Probably I will then start doing most of my cleaning on the weekends, and probably I will tackle one room at a time.

Thank you for responding. A new place is always a good motivator to keep the house clean and orderly. I work a full time job plus a PRN job and average 50-60 hours a week. So, I don't have too much time to clean on weekend, cause I usually work those days too. Best wishes on keeping up with it in your new place.

I normally stay in one room until it's done. If there are items that need to be put away in a different room, I will toss them in the hall. If I go from room to room, I find that it takes me longer and I am easily distracted.

Considering my home is far from spotless, what I do is pick up the livingroom a bit, go start a load of laundry, get some dishes done. I have a medicle condition that limits my movement and if I stant in 1 spot too long with out stretching my joints stiffen up and I cant move very well. I have to do a little bit at a time and take a break and then come back to to and do more later.

I would finish cleaning one room first then jump to the next one. I don't usually jump to another task without finishing where I started to clean up first. I'm a bit forgetful, so say I'm cleaning the bedroom and have to put away something and bring it to kitchen, I'll just place it somewhere in the bedroom and make sure I'm finish with everything before taking it with me and leave the bedroom. If I don't do it that way, I might forget to finish cleaning up the bedroom. That happened to me a lot before. So I'd like to stick with my current method of cleaning.

well the method i use is to dust my house off with a cloth, since mostly the dust settles down, i always try to work out one of my room and then i shift to the next room. if i have really hard work, then i might try to manage diffrent rooms at a time.

When Im cleaning my house out, I usually start with the front porch/foyer then the kitchen and move into the lounge and dinning area which is the first part of the house my visitors see, then down the hall way and into the first room, then the second and third room and then I come back through and do the bathroom, the shower room the toilet, and the laundry room lastly I open up the big double doors off the lounge and clean our verrandah/ patio/ terrace what ever you want to call it... there I do a quick check over and then I feel good that I did a really good job

I like to stay with one room. But I am like you sometimes I get side tracked. But I try to stay in one room and get it all done and then move on. Sometimes I find myself taking something to another room and then I start on something in there and then I tell myself "no you were working on the living room, you got to go back and you can get this in a little bit"
