Anybody use windows vista?

I was wondering if anybody would like to share with us their opinion of the OS. I haven't used it myself, but I was thinking about upgrading and I thought I'd ask for thoughts from other people who have experience with it. I'm currently using XP and my brother in law said that it was pretty much a glorified windows XP, without a lot of improvements. Any thoughts?

I have Vista and like it alot. A bit too security minded for me but hey that is good in this day and age. Now that I have Vista and am living in town with DSL I can see you guy banging his head. I have not had any problems with it and since improvements are all the rage I guess it is good to embrace it and not be left behind in computing ability. Good luck with yours. Mine is from Dell.

Will be glad you are part of our State. Columbus might be good for you however it used to be the best living arrangements would be south of the city. It is different since I have been down there from where I am now up near Cedar Point. I don't think I would ever go back. Good luck with your move and I hope you find the city to your liking.

I dont use Vista because it wastes a lot of system resources (CPU and RAM) for useless things such as superior graphics, but offers the same functionality as WinXP. I use WinXP and SuSe 10.1 as OS in my Laptop.

It's a great OS overall, I'd upgrade when their are more patches as a lot of stuff doens't work and a few major applications will crash with Vista. I like it though.

I have Vista on my new laptop and I adore it. It's like a very visually appealing XP. For example, your picture folder will look like the pictures are peeking out of the folder, the music folder will have album art peeking out, you could roll over your mouse over minimized pages and you could see a preview of it while minimized, many display options, many icon style options.. things of that nature. It's also a lot faster and more organized than XP. Just make sure your computer can handle the upgrade. I decided to purchase a new computer that brought Vista, because I've heard it can do a lot of damage or make your pc very slow, if your computer doesn't have enough ram and memory to support it.

Until today i still use Windows XP, and i have no plan in this 2 years ahead to upgrade my OS to windows vista, because with windows xp i quite satisfied with it, about windows visat it is too much regulation and too much resource that we have to use for windows vista compatibilty, for example the RAM itself minimally must 1 GB, the hard drive 40 GB minimally, whereas my computer's hard drive is 40 GB of space, so 'till today i have no plan to upgrade my computer to vista.

I have windows XP. My neighbor and bestfriend has Vista and I like the look of vista but I find it harder to find things in vista. It could be just that I am so used to XP and that I know where things are that I would have to just get used to Vista. One thing that is majorly diffrent the the names of the programs. They have diffrent names like Controll Panel is something else. so it is a bit confusing for me.

i still dont recommend using microsoft vista as of this moment, it has many defects and bugs to be fixed. try using it when the time comes that microsoft has fixed everything in it.

same here in the philippines from what i have heard.there is practically nothing ,they just added new looks and you got to have a higher ram for it to run and so that is why these computer manufacturers developed the dual core computers in preparation for it,most likely.

My mother recently got a new computer with Vista on it and she appears to like it. It hasn't given her too many problems yet, but I figure that's because the computer itself is new enough to be able to run Vista properly. I've heard plenty of bad stories about it and how they stole a lot of things from the Mac OS, so I'm definitely passing on it myself. Like I've said before, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

yes, we have a friend that recently bought windows vista and he has had nothing but problems with it...since it is so new, there are many bugs in it and also because it is so new, the powers that be @ windows aren't quite sure how to deal with it... have you seen the 'i'm a mac/i'm a pc commercials? there is one that deals with vista...the program is like the commercial...it makes you allow every move you make... run the other way...QUICK!

I agree with your brother because my mom's laptop also uses Windows Vista. It's basically the same as XP but just different in looks. And a lot of people say that it's still a work in progress because it still has lots of bugs. Everytime I use my mom's laptop and I plug a USB flash drive, the 'My Computer' button usually creates an error and I could not open it. I'm just not sure if it wasn't installed properly or if it's a bug. Honestly, I still prefer XP unless they already fix all the bugs in Vista and a lot can say that it's really working properly already. Besides, a lot of programs still require XP and are not yet compatible with Vista so check those out too.

good to know about the flash drive. not really sure why they just jumped to release it - supposedly the thing's been in development for 6 years - what have they been doing all that time? don't they have people that test things out for them? crazy...

I just got a new computer with Vista Basic on it. I went right from Windows ME (yes, I know. . .how dumb of a purchase was that!) to Vista. Compared to ME it is amazing! I used XP at work and I haven't found a ton of differences yet, but like I said, I've only had my new computer for about a month and considering where I came from on my personal computer - it is a HUGE improvement.

I feel that Windows Vista is much better tha Windows XP. It has a far new interesting features. The Aero feature is simply superb. Though I dont have Vista now , I am planning to buy within a week. It is far more secure. It has four level protecting to its kernel. So virus detuction and removal becomes far easier. It has far more search features than Windows XP. Though it has some problems with some typical softwares , it will soon be rectified. So I suggest that you get Windows Vista. This is for you information. The Windows Longhorn Server is being released Next year and IN 2011 the ultimate version of windows that Microsoft has planned is WINDOWS 7.0.

Well though I do not use Vista, My cousin did and well though he did like the interface and the features that Vista offers but it was full of bugs, ocassional crashes and freezing occured. I am sure that his hardware is top notch for Vista as he uses P4 Xeon 3.6GHZ with more than 1024 ram as well his hard disk is nearly a tera byte! He uses an advanced Graphics card, I think Geforce or wildcat I guess and Vista still would freeze up sometimes! My cousin switched back to XP and now he is awaiting a patch which he said will be released to fix up all the major bugs, though a patch recently was released dealing with a big security loop hole in Vista but after the patch that is fixed. Well that's it from my point of view and I advise that wait for a while till these problems get patched up.

I had to buy a new computer, because mine was so old. I bought one and it already had Windows Vista installed. I think it is ok for a new program, like everyone else said there are a few "bugs" but eventually I am sure they will get them figured out. The only problem i have had with it is installing a printer, and I had to contact Lexmark to get a new disk to program the printer. Other than that I have no complaints.
