Father's Day, any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas for father's day gifts? My dad is the hardest person to shop for. He's an investment banker and an insane workaholic. I can't buy him a tie--he already has so many. I could buy him a nice shirt or sweater, but I don't think he'd wear it--he tends to wear gray, blue, or black, and I tend to like brighter colors. If I bought him a red tie it would probably just sit in the closet. One year I got him a swim suit--he just wears it around the house. He never goes to the beach (even though he lives in California!) For Christmas I got him a toiletry kit with aftershave, facial wash, and shower gel. He uses it, but hasn't run out. One year, I got him a mug that says Number 1 dad. He likes it and still uses it, but I can't repeat the same gift this year. Any other ideas? It seems like everything is either something I've given him before, or something he won't use.

what are his interests? it would seem to me that he doesnt have a whole lot of time for hobbies... why don't you kidnap him for a day? take him to a ball or hockey game? go play mini golf with him!! what about getting a jar, and putting in 365 scraps of paper with something on each about how you feel about him, how special he is to you etc... do you still have any of your art from when you were a kid hanging around? frame it for him...or write him a poem... ya gotta just think outside the box :-)

Yeah you're right. He doesn't have a lot of time for hobbies. He's always on the phone closing a trade or flying to Asia for business conferences. He does have other interests. He loves English literature--I guess I could get him a nice edition of Shakespeare. He also listens to a lot of 60s music (Bob Dylan, Beetles, Rolling Stones--vintage stuff). He actually saves all my old artwok...somewhere.

I don't plan to buy anything to my dad on father's day.In these monthes, dad is alone at home and mum goes back home town to look after my grandfather. My sister and I are schooling and are not around my dad, either. So I want to go back home to accompany him on father's day.I think it's the best present to dad.In fac,dad needn't anything but the care from family and his children.

I can relate to being away from my dad. I went to school on the east coast and my dad's still in California. I love being close to my grandparents, but I do miss my dad. I will probably meet up with him in a few weeks, either in New York or LA. I hope you'll be able to go back for Father's Day. :)
