A few minutes ago,I started screaming for my husband to grab his shoe, and kill a huge spider the size of a quarter in the bedroom. He flew over the bed, and smooched the poor thing, and he told me, "oh yeah! I guess it made it's way to the bedroom!" asif! as if this little creature was his own personal pet!!! should guys kill spiders as soon as they see them? his excuse was that it had made it to the ceiling before he could get it, I just think he is coming up with lame excuses, he should have killed it! what do you think?

He should have killed it. No two ways about it. If it went to the ceiling then he should have waited and watched till he could get it again. I hate creepy crawlies especially spiders and palmetto bugs, two that men should kill on sight without us saying a word. He should have known better.

Written pacts do work wonders :) Perhaps then he'll realize what he should be doing. Ewww on the house with the spiders. I don't think I could have killed them myself. I would have had to call someone in. Not sure who but someone who could handle it better then me.

ha ha! I think I will have my hubby sign a written pact that he is to take care of all insects on the spot. It weirds me out he doesn't do anything unless I make a big deal out of it! :)

I think you need to lighten up a bit... on spiders AND your husband. "The size of a quarter" is not "huge." Think of how much bigger YOU are than a quarter. Why do so many women get so freaked out by spiders? Very, very few spiders can actually bite people (even if they wanted to, they are strong enough to penetrate the skin). People who assume they've been bitten by a spider were probably bitten by something else. However, having said all that... and knowing that spiders are beneficial insects (they keep pest insect populations down) that are mostly harmless to us "huge" people, I get freaked out by 'em myself. If one's on the ceiling in the dining area as I'm eating, I keep looking up, thinking it's going to drop down into my plate! And yes, I usually ask my husband, the big brave hunter, to get rid of them for me. But if he's not around, I do it myself (vacuum is my weapon of choice).

Oops... I meant to say they are NOT strong enough to penetrate the skin.

Ok, maybe my husband was amused, because it is the first spider he has seen in our apartment in 11 months. but still, I prefer them outside, to inside! LOL!

I usually yell at my bf to come and remove the spider or insect but i do not want him to kill it. he is forced to take it outside *hahaha* We do not have any dangerous spiders here though =)

Yes, I do think he should have killed it. Of course, I can not stand a spider so that might be why I vote that way. I don't think spiders are any good. I move every stick of furniture to kill a spider that I have seen crawl under it. If I hollared at my husband he would just laugh at me. I always have to kill these things myself. But that is not a problem. I will hunt them down and squash them and do it gladly! lol

from a males point of veiw, i do the same in my house, my wife screams at me to get rid of spiders, but if they are small enough, i leave them be, if they are on the floor, i dont kill them, i take them outside and let them be... no point killing something thats harmless.... but, in that case, im in UK, and we dont have and dangerous spiders here, so its not something we think about! you on the other hand, i assume, live in USA? and therefore have a lot more to worry about than us fellow UK'ers!

well, that depends where you live, of course! there are so many different varieties, it is hard to tell which will ones will end up sending you to the hospital or not. In general I haven't had any problems. I don't think spiders like humans much.
