whenever you travel, how do you choose the hotel you will be staying? what are the criteria that a hotel must have in order for you consider staying in it? do you base it in a hotel's star or the price? for me the first thing i check actually is the price then is its reviews on the net.. then i also check its accessibility to public transportation, be it train or bus.. what are your criteria?

In the past I always traveled with my boyfriend and he travels for a living - so he is a Hilton Rewards member and also a Holiday Inn rewards member. He would stay in one of the hotels in that family but look them up to see how new it is, whether they have wi-fi, how clean it is, etc. Now that we won't be traveling together anymore - I'll probably still try to stick with the Hampton Inn (The Hilton's business person type of Hotel) - every Hampton I have been in has been nice, clean, they have an evening reception with food and drinks, and the decorating has always been pretty cool too.

If you stick to the same family of Hotels, they have reward programs. I got my 20 gig ipod, $300 in Amazon gift cards, $500 in Borders Books and music gift cards, and also various other gift cards through our hotel points. Having a boyfriend that traveled for a living had it's perks - skymiles = free flights for me... free rentals cars because he rented so many, visa rewards, hotel rewards, etc.

My first considerations when choosing somewhere to stay are price and location. I am always willing to pay slightly more for staying in a quiet location. I like having a beaufiful view. I don't mind a long walk from the train station or the bus depo. In Romania I had difficulty finding a hotel room in one town. I ended up staying somewhere quite expensive. I had a magical view of a fairy tale looking castle. My favourite sort of accommodation is a thatched beach hut or tree house. I like a setting on a palm fringed beach or in the beautiful countryside.

i wouldnt mind paying slightly more also, as long that i have a good location and complete amenities.. wow id like to try checking in to that hotel and check out the view of a castle! my sister would love that! too bad the we can only try either a thatched hut or tree house is when we go to the beach! thanks..

The most important thing is that they accept my dogs. Then the area should be nice, if possible in the country. Then I look at the price, I want a shower and also if possible breakfast. And I want a safe place to park my car. That is all. If the bed has a decent matrace I think it is a great place to stay.

i think its hard here in the philippines to find a hotel that accepts pets.. so i dont bring my dog with me. :( amenities are also important for me.. does the hotel have shower, gym or pool and then do they serve breakfast? those are just some of things i look when looking for a hotel.
