Political Whipping Boys

I am sure if everyone thinks hard enough, they can think of one at least one, political whipping boy. You know what I am talking about. It is a group usually a business but sometimes individuals that politicians always use to further their career. Take for instance the prosecuting attorney Michael Nifong, he used the Duke Lacrosse Rape Trial to win his re-election. In my state, I have had the past 3 attorney generals use the gasoline station price gouging charge. The first to use it is now a US senator, the second to use it is now my governor, and the third to use is my current attorney general. The interesting thing is all three of these individuals have gotten on state wide television and radio and told the entire state that there is price gouging going on and we have to do something about it. There has not been one charge from the state attorney general's office leveled against one gas station. I am sure that this is not an isolated case. Politicians need a whipping boy to create an issue that they can fix. Of course, they will never fix it so the next guy in line can use the same whipping boy that the previous politician used. The biggest problem is voters constantly getting worked up when they hear these politicians beating to death their whipping boys. Not only do the voters not get it, but they promote them. Because of course, these politicians did such a good job for us on the lower levels, protecting us, just imagine what they would do in higher levels.

You have an excellent point.
There's always a patsy and an excuse, and people are always eager to accept and go back to their lives ignoring anything "boring" like politics and what our so-called public servants are really doing.
We have a 30 year oil contract with Iran and enough in our own reserves to last 40 years at today's usage statistics. WTH are we paying $3.40+ a gallon???
You can't tell me somebody isn't lining their pockets with that gas money coming in.
Great discussion, btw.

Around here it is Education. Every couple of years we get hit with another sob story about how we are failing our kids if we don't allow another increase in taxes to buy books. The problem is, the taxes keep going up, but the kids are still using the same textbooks. On the other hand, the teachers and administration have benefits packages you wouldn't believe!

Hi gewcew. I like reading your posts. But most of the time I don't know what to answer because most of them are about politics. And I am not that savvy when it comes to this especially the news here as I am new in this country. Anyway I always learn from your posts and thank you for sharing with us. Have a nice day!
