Okay.. This topic is for those of us, who have both bad and backwards grammar, who want to learn how to improve our Grammar. So would all the Smart English speaking Grammermatic Acers please stand up and help us out a little here. :D .
I have some examples here...
They are examples of statements with bad grammar.
Pork and beans are a favorite dish among our customer.
Our supply of new 3.5 floppy disks are rapidly diminishing.
Someone in our Human Resources department need to resolve this issue. If I was you, I would certainly apply for the promotional position.
A detailed description of possible sideeffects are included with each filles prescription.
Have your wrote letters to the two agencies?
Neighter of them wish to lease a one-bedroom apartment in the are before buying a home.
Although Lyn did not feel good all week, she did not miss a day's work.
I feel badly that you did not recieve information about this scholarship before the filing deadline date.
Kevin checked these sales figures less careful than he should have.
Who has been with the company longer Barry, Claudia, or Mathew?
Most of the students who graduate from our law school do good on the state bar examination.
Between the three of us, we should be able to complete the inventory bu the end of this weekend.
There seems to be discrepancy among the expense report and the recipts admitted.
All of the computers in our department have on-line access to the Internet.
We can either send you this information by fax or E-mail.
Our company manufactures stand-alone home stero systems but also installs stero systems in new home constuction.
You may either recieve your divididends monthly or reinvest them in a bond fund.
===============
I have provided many examples of questions I dug out of my old English notebook. Can anyone here explain how to correct these bad examples, and why they chose to correct them in this manner? This way we can all together learn how to improve our Grammer and usage of Grammar.
I can not teach Grammar as I failed it, but I am asking this because I am willing to build new habits to improve my own Grammer.
Thanks,
- DNatureofDTrain

Well, let's see what I can do! I always welcome a challenge.
1. Pork and beans could be considered two separate things and in that case the plural verb could be correct in this sentence. There is, however, a clue in the word "dish". That word seems to indicate that pork and beans is being considered as one dish, therefore deserves a singular verb. Stated correctly, the sentence would be, "Pork and beans is a favorite dish among our customers.
2. The subject of this sentence is supply and warrants a singular verb. Our supply (of new 3.5 floppy disks) is rapidly diminishing. (Parentheses mine)
3. If I were you, I would.... this has something to do with the pluperfect tense, but I don't really know what. I just know were is the correct word to use.
4. Again, this sentence has a plural verb for a singular subject. The subject is description, not side-effects. The sentence should read: "A detailed description of possible side-effects is included with each filled prescription."
5. This sentence has the wrong verb tense. It should be:"Have you written letters..."
6. Plural verb with singular subject again. Should be "Neither of them wish to lease..."
7. Improper use of good. Lyn did not feel well at all...
8. "I feel bad that you...." Don't need the ly, it is redundant.
9. Just the opposite in this sentence, you do need to add ly to careful.
10. You got me on this one! I think it needs either a comma or semicolon, but not sure which. "Who has been with the company longest, Barry, Caudia or Matthew?
11. Improper use of good again. Should be well.
12. Can't have between with more than two people. Should be; "Among the three of us..."
13. "There seems to be a discrepacy between the expense report and the receipts submitted." Two errors there. Should be between instead of among due to comparing of two things. Also submitted is better than admitted.
14. This sentence seems to be correct. All (plural) of our computers in our department have (plural) on-line access to the Internet.
15. Don't see anything wrong with this one either. It might be less confusing if it were stated "We can send you this information either by fax or e-mail." You could even remove either from the sentence completely. It is not needed.
16. This sentence need a comma after the word "systems" and before "but".
17. The word either is redundant in this sentence. Edit the sentence to read;" You may receive your dividends monthly or reinvest them in a bond fund."

I can not verify if you are correct or not on these as I had failed my grammer lessons. Well, Thank you for sharing. :) This sound better than I usually would put them. Thanks for taking your time to respond. :).
Take care, - DNatureofDTrain
