Do You Share Your Instrument?

I don't know why it is, but I like watching other people playing my guitars. I like seeing and hearing what they do with them that is different than how I play.
I've noticed I'm a rarity that way. Most people seem to be very possessive about their guitars. Players of other instruments often are too, but it seems to me that guitarists are the most possessive.
Of course, I don't let too many people play my harmonicas... but let's face it, there are only so many people you care to share spit with. ;~D

I've noticed a lot of people are like that. I have friends that will play my guitars, but won't let me play their's. Not sure why... but to each their own I guess.

I don't like to let people play my guitars.
Some people cause my strings to tarnish very fast. I guess it is the ph rating of the oil on their skin or something.
I used to play at a recording studio. One time I left it there for a week. The strings were rusty when I came back.
That is the only reason why I don't let people play my instruments.

Never thought of that... but then again, I've never noticed it happening on my strings either... Interesting.

I was speaking of someone specific. LOL.
I use elixir strings which have a coating. Now it doesn't matter but I don't play out a lot unless it I am playing solo or filling in for someone who couldn't make it.

It depends on the instrument. I'm always afraid if I let people play my instrument and they don't know how to play. I've had things broken on violins and violas that way. But anything where spit isn't shared, yeah.
I don't share my harmonicas either. Unless my girlfriend wanted to try, then I suppose I would. ;)

Yeah, my daughter used to let people play her violin, until she noticed the same thing. Now she doesn't even let me touch it. ;~D

I agree with you Para ted, I don't mind letting someone else play my guitars! The people that even bother to ask me, I already know they wouldn't hurt my guitars!
As a matter of fact, that is one of the best ways of learning, and enhancing your guitar playing, is watching somebody else play, because they may know something on the guitar that you want to learn!

Yup, that's something I've noticed too. If someone else is playing my guitar, I pick up what they are trying to show me better than me watching them play it on theirs. Not sure why.
