How Do You Explain Embarrassing Problems About You

Wolfie stands up and admits to an embarrassing problem that I've got... I can't stop yawning! Yes I do get enough sleep, 9 hours on average, yes I do have a thyroid problem but it's monitored and yes ok I do go to the gym five times a week, sometimes 2 hours each day. But I can't figure out why I keep yawning, no matter what time of the day it is I yawn Ok, that doesn't sound that embarrassing right? Well I've got my second interview coming up soon and the school is very very interested in me, and as long as I don't make a hash of it, the job is mine but because I am a PESSIMIST and WORRY too much I'm not taking it as a foregone conclusion My main worry is that when I start work, I start yawning all the time, hardly good for a brand new job in front of children is it? How do I explain that to my new, prospective employer? Do you have any embarrassing problems that you have to explain away to? Any idea how I can stop the yawning problem as no one can figure out not even my GP why I keep yawning constantly morning, noon and night!

Yawning is a nuisance isn't it .. my neighbour does it every time she uses the phone .. then she starts me off .. hehehe There are some medical things connected to yawning though .. one is that you aren't getting enough oxygen into your body .. not using the lungs correctly .. and yawning makes your lungs open up more and so your body gets more oxygen .. Also yawning in the animal world is usually done when an animal gets stressed .. as well as tired of course .. so maybe it's a combination of you being stressed and breathing more shallowly so not getting enough oxygen ... You could ask your gym to give you some deep breathing exercises .. it might help

To cure yawning, well that's simple! Just take deeper breaths and hold them in for a fraction longer than you are now. We yawn not because we are tired but because our brain is lacking oxygen. So by deeping your breaths and holding them in a bit longer you are allowing more oxygen to get into your bloodstream (via your lungs) and you won't yawn so much. Also, if you get an air purifier that would help as well. I say this because people who smoke (like me) and live in palces with bad air, such as the city, or are stuck in traffic a lot breathing in all that exhaust it hurts our lungs (no duh! right?) well by hurting your lungs it will inhibit your ability to get that air into the bloodstream via the lungs..... My not so embarassing "quirk" is that I can't stand or sit still, as my mom says, I have "ants in my pants" lol. I need to be tapping my foot, shifting on my feet, tapping my hand, something... I just need to be moving doing something. Even at work, I work in an office I prefer to be standing up bouncing around rather than sitting like a drone like everyone else.

The trouble with yawning it makes it look like your bored and lost interest. Do you think its become a habit rather than a medical problem i know when my son gets bored he shakes his head its a comfort thing apparently and its much more common than you think personally i think you'll be fine, you got through the first interview and theres no reason to believe you won't get through the second! GOOD LUCK!!!!

LOl wolfie. Yes of course i have some problems that i find it hard to explain. So i usually try to analyze what is the problem and do i really have to give an explanation to someone about it, except myself? Usually the answer is no, no i do not have to give an explanation to my problems to others. Just on cases that it involves somthing that i was committed to, and could not do. If it is a friends situation, i just tell them that i have a personal problem, and they will never start to ask too much or complain, because they respect my answer. If it is a problem at work, i just say that it is a emergency personal problem, and usually they also respect it, because they know that i am serious about my job. About the Yawning problem, that you see as a problem. I think that it just became a habit. And the best way to solve it is with a life training coach. Try it, i am sure it would help.

Yep, I have a limp and can no longer stand up completely straight because of arthritis in my hip joint. I get asked a lot if I hurt my knee or sprained my ankle and it's a little embarrassing to explain about the arthritis. Some people say "Oh you're too young to have arthritis!", well evidently NOT!! LOL.

People don't realize that arthritis affects both young and the old, like heart disease it doesn't discriminate, thanks for sharing.

Thats weird I have been doing that lately - but then I haven't been getting enough sleep! I read somewhere that yawning isn't so much to do with tiredness and lack of sleep as it is to do with your body looking for oxygen, or to be more precise fresh oxygen! Have you tried breathing exercises honey , always remembering to make sure you give a big breath OUT first to empty out all the stale oxygen thus allowing more fresh oxygen in! It might be worth a try, I know it sounds wacky but it really does work sweetheart! I wouldn't worry about explaining it away as we all know when someone yawns it triggers a reflex action and everyone else will be doing it too! lol As for embarrasing problems I have , well, I talk a lot, an awful, awful lot; I am very forgetful, I look like an old woman hobbling along when I walk - yes still! Those are the only ones I am giving away! xxx

Sorry Wolfie - I came into the discussion blind, via email and didn't realise you had already been given similar advice several times! The remembering to take a big breath out though was new AND very important - I learnt this at a depression management course - see they are worthwhile sometimes! lol xxx

i do yawn a lot, too. and i did not thought about it being embarrassing until i have read your discussion. hehe. one thing which is embarrassing about me is that i love to sleep after each meal. i don't know why. i just feel so sleepy whenever i am full. it's okey if there's no bed. i can sleep while sitting down. and funny, i can even sleep while just leaning on the wall. and my cousins always laugh at this talent of mine.

If the school you are going to work in is anything like mine yawning is part of our curriculum!!LOL We come back after every half term fully refreshed and then as the weeks go by we all start to yawn, so as a natural yawner, you will do well. I have my fingers crossed for you and I really hope you get the job!! Best of luck Wolfie x

Umm, i have a lot about me that embarasses m, but i don't think i really want to get into it too much. Let's just say a lot has happenedto me as a result of my crash. Hon, i know you are worried about the job, but i think yawning is not too terrible a thing. It could be worse. i knwo it must seem embarassing to you...but i bet most people don't even really notice it. If anyone says anything to you, just explain that it is something you cannot control..that you are not actually tired, it is just a reflex.

Have you had your oxygen level checked? That may be why you still yawn.
