Do movies influence you in the way you do things? For example; wehn Jaws first came out, people were afraid to go swimming in the ocean. I have to honestly say, Jaws did have an impact on me, I do love the ocean and it's a shame I'm quite aways from it, but if given the chance I would swim in the ocean, I would just be more watchful. Or how about movies like Paying it Forward, do you try to do nice things for your fellow human being? Do movies influence your life and has one special movie made a big impact on you?

Movies don't influence me. I still try to do nice things for people, though. I also swim in the ocean and don't really look for sharks. We've fished smack in the middle of small schools of them and not had a problem. Maybe I'm asking for trouble? lol

We don't use the boat for surf-fishing. We are out there wading in the water.

In a way movies, do inspire me to do better things and to be more hopeful and positive. Just like the Ghost Rider, where I find that it is actually a story of Redemption and it really inspired me and give me hope. The movie pay it forward really inspired me too to be better and go beyond the concerns of ourselves and make a conscious effort to help other. I make sure that any blessings that I get will be shared.

When I'm watching movies its not only about entertaining reason but I always try to figure out what the story wants to impart on me. Thus I usually watch those kind of movies that may not have a commercial appeal but have depth and worth thinking. Some of these kind did teach me in a certain aspect of life and how to use it for my personal improvement. It inspires me to reflect its lessons to my own life and that feels good to me. I'm not trying to impersonate the actors in the movie like some peps do but I extract the good characters that the actor played in a certain movie.

yes movies and tv shows do have an impact on me.Impact in the sense --molding my character not affecting the things that i would do usually. For eg:If a horror movie says that there are monsters in the closet i would certainly not give ear to it. There are movies that teach you good values that would make you a better person and these are the ones that have an impact over me.Prison Break is a great TV show which explains the importance of faith in our lives cuz without it we're nothing. It also explains us the true meaning of love. The show is really great I'm not just saying it but I've seen both the seasons and its really beautiful.

I don't think I ever seen this show, but I agree that some movies or shows do teach us a thing or two about values.

For my case, I'd say seldom. I'm usually aware that many of the things we see in movies are sensationalized. Sure, some things mirror daily life or are based on true life stories, but usually the scripwriters and producers dramatize things to provoke reactions from viewers. Having said that, movies only impact me for a very short spell. Eg, after watching a scary movie, I'd be a little more afraid of the dark that night, but this effect will not last once I realise how paranoid I've been. You can also say no one movie has a great impact on me.

The first horror movie I ever watched, was called It's Alive, with them monster babies. When they scream they sound like a cat in heat and to this day hearing a cat in heat gives me the creeps lol. So the fear for me lasts a bit longer.

So Riptide, if you had watched countless number of horror movies and heard all kinds of weird sounds, you would be living in fear of sounds everywhere you go, and will have to walk around with ear plugs on...LOL!

I think in one way or another movies do affect our lives, maybe consiously or subconciously. Since the stories behind these movies are plain depiction of the real world, only compressed into a smaller scene, it often showcase situations that the normal human being exeriences in his/her own life. Therefore, like it or not, these movies have impact on the way we think and see life. We may be watching them for the sake or recreation or entertainment but what we might fail to notice is the fact that we pick up lessons and new found knowledge from them. These influences may not be drastic and evident, but then they do hit a certain soft spot in our hearts that changes the way we are through time but not drastically.

How very true. One movie in peticular comes to mind. As Good As it gets. I love that movie and I think it teaches a lot of things like tolerance, understanding and that sometimes even the most grouchiest and nasty person might simply be misunderstood.

I think we are influenced by almost everything we see-movies being a big factor. It's funny that you mention Jaws-because it did make me afraid to go to the ocean when it first came out. I've since been there-and loved it, although, I don't know how anyone can swim in it-too strong for me.

If a shark is after you I'm sure you quickly learn how lol. I think Jaws effected a lot of people. Even though we all know it's only a movie, but we also know that great whites are real animals so that adds to the fear.

yes i guess movies do influence everyone's life specially that of the youngsters. but not all movies do that. Only those which have some good emotional message or those which teach you something have a significant impact on you.

a movie, a literature or something that conveys ideas, as history had shown influence an idividual man or even an entire nation. the pen (representing ideas) is mightier than the sword. the new world owed the present idea of freedom and respect for the human mind from the ancient greeks. and the greeks would never be the adventurous kind and influence asia minor and its vicinity if not for homer's Iliad and Oddysey. Homer is the Greeks religion promoting greatness, human endurance, self reliancy and and trust in human Reason.

yup. i guess it does in many ways. there are moral lessons we always get from movies.. like how kindness is being paid, why it is good to be strong and have self confidence, how hard it is to keep living but we have to be happy atleast and many more. it has influenced my morale values more than before. but i only look up and live up to the good lessons.

I recall being influenced by the movie Jaws. I was younger and some movies made minor impressions, but not long lasting ones. Today, no movie would have a significant impression on me. That is none other than some esoteric movie like the Secret, or What The Bleep Do We Know.

not not reallly, but i admit they do have although a small amount of impact, i am more influences if the subject matter covered in the movies is more related to emotions, althought children are more influenced by the movies and try to intimate things shown in them and have lost their lives as well.

I have to admit I am influenced by movies at least for a few hours after I see them. A sad movie will come to me and scenes will re-play in my head like a loop so I may burst into tears at any given moment (but only for awhile). When my mother took me to see E.T. for the first time, she said I cried all day and all night, only to stop crying while I ate my Dairy Cream ice cream. When my ice cream cone was gone, I started crying all over again. It broke my heart that he went home. (I hope I haven't spoiled the ending for anyone...) Same with say, a kung fu movie, I'm liable to try to throw my calf at your face just to see what happens. So yeah, you could say I'm influenced by movies. I have "some" self control, I mean I've seen a gangsta flick or two in my day, yet I've never purchased a glock and popped a cap in someone's booty.

Well, I do believe movies have got a great influence in the way we do the things. People, in general, like to identify themselves, their own lives, feelings and behavior in a film. Such as in a song, we use to search for something in common with ourselves. The movie I identify the most is "Notting Hill". See u!
