Have you ever rescued an animal?

My daughter found a little baby bird at the side of the road 2-3 weeks ago. She brought it home for me to take care of. It's a titmouse. I keep the bird in the bathroom. The cats congregate outside the door listening to the bird chirp away. They get a really disgusted/mad look on their faces whenever I open the door to go in to feed the bird. They try to sneak in, but my spray bottle of water makes them stay back. Oh well, they'll get over it. This little bird should be ready to go on her/his own in another week or so. She's still wanting me to feed her instead of looking for bugs in the bottom of her box. I've rescued other animals including a baby blue jay last year when our cats got into their nest. I took care of that one for 2 months, then turned it loose when it was ready. I think it's still around, but am not sure. Have you ever rescued an animal? Tell me about it?
