Do you think malls are taking over small shops?

Everywhere i look nowadays i see these huge shopping complexes called malls where you can get everything imaginable. They have become the one stop shops. They have all but taken over the small corner grocery stores or the small boutique shops I used to shop in. Its like these small shops dont have a chance because of the sheer buying power of these huge malls. What are your views on this? Are we giving way to modernisation so much that those little shops we used to love so much are suffering a bad fate today?

this is not so in our country. there are spaces in the malls which are being rented out small business enterpreneurs. they are running their small corners inside the mall premises and people keep on picking on the items that they are selling and availing of the services that they are offering. besides this, the grocery stores and shops at the other areas areas of the city are still proliferating and are still earning good. there are still boutique shops around in every busy street. business is still brisk even for the small ones.

Well, it looks like it heading to that direction. Thats exactly what happen to my hometown small shops. When new big shopping mall was built, the small shop's owner has to close their bussiness. This is because most people like to go to big shopping mall, especially new ones. I think if we want to give way to modernisation, small shops owners have to give way too or stay competitive.

yes I see this happening all the time here in Ohio. When I think of going to the mall for something I hate it because I usually need things from two places and there usually at oposite ends of the store and Im so tired from walking that I cant enjoy the stores in between. If I can find what I want at a small mall or strip mall I will go there but sometimes there prices are higher.
