Today was the last day of school for my young'uns. Now we are in for a real treat. My youngest (2) is excited because she'll have big brother and sister home to play with all day, everyday!
I hope that we have enough plans for the summer. Swimming, various craft projects, Sewing (my oldest girls is learning to sew), and (sigh) video games. We also live only a few blocks from our local library, and they are planning summer events for kids. For every so many books they read, they earn an ice cream at the local dairy treat. Who can argue with that!
Our local nature center also has a lot of acivites planned for kids. The last one they showed kids how to make kites, build terraniums, make paper, plant seeds, and how to vermicompost (raise worms.) These little activities can fill an afternoon really quickly, and the kids don't ever want to leave.
So, do you have any plans to keep your children busy this summer? Busy enough they don't drive you nuts? (i know mine would if there wasn't anything fun to do!) Please share your ideas.
Happy summer!

My children are grown up now. But we do get the grandsons over every other week. The library here has free passes to many of the different museums etc for kids. All it takes is having a library card. So we take them to different museums a lot. We also have a nature center right around the corner & they host many different childrens activities. So when we have the grandkids they'll keep me busy thats a given.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hopefully, they don't wear you out, Bob! LOL! Those kids are really lucky to have such loving grandparents that are willing to drag them anywhere and everywhere. We have some free passes to different areas around the state, too, that we got by donating money to the local PBS station.
