I was baptized 15 years ago. My son and I were both baptized in a Nazarene Church on the same night. It was so very special. My husband has been a Christian even longer than me, but had never been immersed before. We talked to our pastor last December when they were getting ready for a baptism service and my husband felt the Lord leading him to get baptized by immersion. It was such a special service and it was Christmas Eve too! I am so proud of my husband.

I was baptised in the Greek Orthodox church. Babies in Greece don't officially have a name until they get baptised, and your baptism certificate is actaully more important than your birth certificate over there. My brother wasn't officially recognised because at one stage we couldn't find his baptism certificate! Although now there is more of a puch to separate church and state.

It's so interesting how different cultures do things. That is one thing I love about MyLot... I learn so much from reading what people from other countries write. I just love it! Thanks for sharing that.

I was baptized (by immersion) when I was six. I had been saved when I was four, but my parents wanted to make sure I understood the significance of being baptized. And I did. Even at that age. Of course, now it is exciting to see people baptized in our church. My dad baptized me (he was/is pastor of my church) and it was a special day.

How special to be baptized by your own dad! That is really neat. I know you must have some interesting things in your life being the pastors kid. I have always had a heart for pastors kids and missionary kids. They have so much added expectations put on them. Did you feel that in your life?

It was neat to be baptized by him. I would agree that there are more expectations with preacher's kids and missionary's kids. I could tell you some good and awful stories. Now that I'm older, I don't miss the pressure. I can now just enjoy hearing my dad speak about the Lord without any baggage. And I am so blessed by that! : )

I was baptized as a baby too, when my mom and dad took me to Catholic church as a baby. Neither of them are believers now though, so it's kind of sad. I think it was, 'the thing to do' for them at the time, but not a real committment to the Lord. I pray for them both.

Well some people who really do not understand it, get really freaked out by it. I was raised in pentecostal/assembly of God churches and until i was 18, i said "i will NEVER speak in tongues. its not for me' and then one day, BAM it hit me, the desire to do it. I had prayed about it and this elderly lady in the church approached me out of the blue and said 'have you been baptized in the spirit?' and i knew it was my time. So i went down front, they layed hands on me and told me to pray out loud as they prayed for me. My english prayer turned into my prayer language (tongues) right as i was speaking. An amazing experience. When it was all said and done that day, i opened my eyes and realized i was on the floor praying out loud in tongues! Speaking in tongues is a GIFT. Its a prayer language that only God understands, but sometimes he will give you, or someone else the interpretation. Its special because Satan can not understand what you are saying, but God knows. Its a gift that i am thankful to have :)

I've been to an Assembly of God where people spoke in tongues, but have never received that gift myself. Tell me about your experience!

I was baptized almost 40 years ago in a Baptist Church. My daughter was baptized by her daddy 15 years ago and it was such a blessing for her and her daddy to have to honor of baptizing her.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour in December 1999, but only got baptized by immersion in August 2002. At first, I was really resistive of being baptized "again", as I was baptized when I was still a baby in a Roman Catholic church. But when I finally understood the significance of water baptism, the real water baptism, which is a believer's public testimony and first sign of obedience, I did it willingly. My husband was there to witness the event. He even took pictures. He was already a believer before I became a believer, and got baptized on Christmas day 2000 in a church here in Singapore.

What a great story. How very special. I was also baptized as a child in the catholic church. The number of Christians in Singapore is small isn't it? That makes it even more special.

Yes, I have been baptized as a baby. I think if I still can recall it I was only a few weeks old then. There were a few witnesses during my baptism. Most of them are my parents friends and our relatives. By the way I was baptized in a Roman Catholic Church.
