What Are Your Favorite Things About Summer?

I have decided that I'm not going to dread summer this year but find things to like about it and enjoy it because life is too short to spend so many months of every year waiting for one season. I don't want to miss out on what's happening right now and if I'm going to enjoy it then I have to find things about summer to enjoy. So, please tell me what you like about summer and maybe I can find something you like as something I like, too, and it will help me enjoy it, too.

I had to really think hard about this as I to am not a great fan of summer. It seems to get hotter every year. This year we had top temps of 45C+ I hated it it. Though to look at the positives, Ice-cream, going to the toilet at night and not freezing my butt off, ice cream, ice cream, I can't seem to think of anything different I am sorry. Just look forward to a different ice cream each day?

Where do you live that you give temps in terms of C's instead of Farenheit? I'm in the U.S. and I don't have a clue as to what 45C is in Farenheit. I do agree with the ice cream part. And, the freezing your butt off to go to the toilet is sort of funny. It almost sounds like you have to go outside to an outhouse. You do have indoor plumbing I hope? Hee Hee.

I live in Australia and I found out that 45C is 113F so I don't know if that is normal temps for you guys in summer or not? I do have inside plumbing, thankfully, I just use the term "freeze my butt off" when I feel really cold. Some people actually use the term "Freeze my t*ts off" but I prefer the freeze my butt off. And yes the ice cream part is good. It is winter here at the moment, so hot cups of tea are more what I like at the moment!

Well I'm not a summer fan either...probably one of the great advantages of the summer months that I can think of though are longer periods of daylight hours...instead of starting to get dark around 4:30-5:00 as it does in the fall/winter it doesn't get dark until 7-ish

Oh, now I like the evenings getting darker earlier. I wasn't happy at all when they extended Daylights Savings Time this year. I don't mind them starting a week or two early but I don't like them extending it longer in the fall. Part of what I look forward to in September and October are earlier evenings and cooler temps. Fall doesn't seem to last long enough for me so I want more of it. It's gotten where summer starts in June and goes through September and into October in L.A. and that just doesn't sit well with me. I start watching movies like "Meet Me In St. Louis" in September to get me focused on fall.

I love summer it is when I feel most alive. I love to swim, horseback ride, going for walks and just enjoying nature. I also love feeling the sun. Running around with the kids playing baseball or volleyball. I think there is so much to enjoy about summer.

Thank you for reminding me of horseback riding and swimming and walking and nature. I think that being in the middle of the city with little nature around me, I tend to forget about that. The closest park to me is MacArthur Park but maybe I'll take a walk over there and enjoy it.

My favorite thing about summer is getting to go out on the boat, either at the lake or on the river. It is so relaxing, and if it gets too hot, hubby just throws water on me and it's much better. LOL

That sounds like fun. When I was a little girl, we had friends that had a boat and we used to go out with them. Actually, they had a cruiser and a houseboat, which was an interesting experience to stay on. We had a lot of fun, though. I always used to love to water ski and as soon as I get the weight off, that's one thing I want to do again as well as go swimming. I think the part about your hubby throwing water on you is funny. I can just picture that. Hee hee.

The thing that I like about summer is the weather, If it is not to hot and sticky. If the humodoty is moderate then it is ok if the humidity is high then I try to stay under the air conditioner.

Ah-h, the a/c...the only place to be. Of course, right now in L.A. we have June gloom so I'm pretty content with the temps at the moment. Now, if I could just move to Oregon by the middle or late July, that would be marvelous! Then I could avoid the 95 - 100 degree temps here in L.A. this summer.
