haha, i know this is funny but you see, the LPG prices are so expensive and i think it would be too expensive to have my water boiling any time of the day so i tried this experiment. i started putting my mug outside to saok in the sun at about 9 am and i plan to get it around 3pm. lolz. :) who knows, this could be my daily routine from now on and then i wouldnt have to spend much money on the LPG gas. haha! :)

There are solar rice cookers, solar water heaters, etc., etc. Ther is no harm in doing experiments to understand and learn but if an efficient device is commercially available, why not use it. The solar water heater is a fabulous device and it is very useful if suitable weather prevails over there. In many large hotels and restaurants they use them and save lot of energy and money.

LMAO so did it work? maybe when the temperature becomes 100 degrees celsius your experiment could work but that's unlikely to happen...

hmm, i think it worked a little bit but i had a little fault. :P i forgot to take it while it was still warm and now its already late in the afternoon, the weather isnt so hot anymore, so meaning, the water has returned to its original temperature. lolz. :P

Hey, since you have a computer anyway, why don't you try one of those USB-powered heating plates for coffee mugs? They're available in computer shops and they're quite cheap, around $1.50 apiece. And it actually works :P

Did it work? It would save you LPG if you use this method to heat water but at the same time, it takes FOREVER!

hmm, right now, its already 3pm and the water did become warm, but not really boiling, but i guess it would be enough to brew my tea in. lolz. i dont really drink tea many times a day anymore, so i guess i may just have found a way to save LPG. lolz. :)

Lol but wouldn't the water be stale by then? And you exposed it to the open air (I'm kinda guessing that you're from the Philippines).

well, i did cover my mug with a plate so its not really exposed to the air. :) lolz. but, i kinda forgot that i left it there to be hot, and its already late afternoon now, so i ended up with the same water temp just like this morning. lolz.
