Has anyone here ever tried to give themselves a french manicure at home? I have. Ihave tried multiple french manicure kits that come with the white nail color for the tips the tinted gloss and the little guide stickers to show you where to paint the white on. They comw ith instructions, which I folloed everytime. I have a steady hand and have always been good at doing my own nail so I thought this should be a snap. I was wrong. No matter what I did, no matter what dircetion I painted from or at what point I removed the little stickers, when all was said and done I was left with a ridge on my nail where the white polish ends and the pink part of my nail begins. That does not give the desired result of a smooth shiney manicure. How do I aviod this? I know there must be a way around it because when people get thier nails done at the salon this doesn't happen. Someone please tell me what the trick is. Oh and please don't tell me to just go to the salon because I'm not doing that, here a manicure in a salon costs around $35, where as a single bottle of nail polish can be bought at the drug store for $2.50, and I do alot of housecleaning so I have to reapply nail color every other day if I want it to look good, to go to the salon for that would cost $105 a week, and that is ridiculous. I want to figure out how to do it at home so I can have the fancy look for a fraction of the cost! :)

I have tried those kits too and the stickers don't work for me either. I just use the nailpolish that comes with the kit and do it free hand. If you just follow the line on your nails where there is no skin under your nail (at the end). It seems to turn out great liek that. Sometimes I will mess up and have to touch it up, but the more practice you have the better you will become. Hope this works and good luck!!!

I tried with shimmery nail polishes instead of flat colors and had much better luck, it's easier to make it look good withthe shimmery polishes becaue tiny flaw don't show up so much. Thanks for the tips.
