Well I'm sick of being on Zoloft and I'm waiting for my doctor to call me back so we can discuss weaning off of it. I'm tired of being addicted to these drugs. And yes, you can be addicted to antidepressants. I read a lot of disturbing things about antidepressants and I don't want to poison my body with them anymore. I'm going to find another way to deal with my depression and I'm determined to beat this! The truth is that antidepressants are not safe to use and they cause a lot of damage to the brain. If you want to know the real facts about antidepressants then visit this site. http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/ It's got a lot of information about antidepressants that never make it into public circulation. It tells you how they really work and why they are so bad for you. There is a lot of information on this site and it can be overwhelming, so I recommend that you read the introduction first to get an overview. ~Kythe42 http://lemurianphoenix.blogspot.com

My aunt kept getting her medications switched around and it made her loopy in between. She would talk like a little girl and everything. I think only in really extreme cases do people actually need to be medicated. So many times I, my boyfriend, or a member of my family just goes to the doctor for one thing and the doctor tries to push prozac or zoloft. It seems like a large pecentage of people on these meds probably don't really need to be on them. I'm not sure what your case is... but have you tried maybe taking an art class (to release your emotions) or perhaps meditation? Those have both worked wonders for me.

I do meditate frequently. It does help a lot with my stress and anxiety. I'm hoping that as I get better at it, it will help my depression as well.

I have taken numerous types of anti-depressants in the past, and none have worked for me, in fact that have exacerbated the situation and given me some real unpleasant side affects. I have now switched to a herbal anti-depressant which has NO side affects. I refuse to go back to anti-depressants even tho my GP keeps trying to foist them onto me!

Good for you! I've thought about using herbal antidepressants but they all seem kind of expensive. I do something called biofeedback which helps a lot. The doctor that proscribed my antidepressants says that he's a firm believer in biofeedback and he wishes more people would try it. If you're interested I wrote a short article about biofeedback in my blog under the "Health Tips" section. http://lemurianphoenix.blogspot.com

That is a great site. I have taken prozac and lexapro in my life. It was interesting to read about them. Thanks for sharing that site!

Well, I do not believe antidepressants have all these terrible side effects. Actually, I do believe that there's no worse effect than depression! I also believe people affected by depression should not be ashamed of it, after all it's already been cientifically confirmed that it's a sickness such as cancer or diabetis. The good news are that, such as cancer, it can already be totally cured. :) Of course every medicin has got some side effects, but fortunatelly antidepressants nowadays are very safe and really work out! :)
