Does anyone know a good free movie editing software?

Does anyone know a good free movie editing software? It would be great if it had special effects that you could put in. But even if it doesn't its ok. please suggest something other than Windows movie maker

If file is .avi you can try avidemux, is a free software for avi files editing

If you have Windows XP, there is a built in movie editor its called....Windows Movie Maker, you can find it doing a search on your system or it maybe in the start, all programs section of your PC.
