Recently in my hospice we had a man who was 36 years old come in, he was a husband, father to 2 small kids,5 yrs,7yrs old. He went soooo fast, within 2 days he was dead, very heartbreaking story. Also we have women in their early 50's who have kids, the kids are in their early to mid teens. Can you imgine how these kids feel about losing their mother when they need them the most.

I was devistated when I found out that I had colon cancer at age 51. Then my neighbor age 29 was diagnosed with cancer with 2 young boys to raise so I considered myself lucky after that.

I noticed that too especially when I saw several cases from my wife's friends and my mother. although my mother is 61 years old I consider her quite young still since i don't see any signs that she is deteriorating lately. now that she isudnergoing chemotherpay the second time around I can now see the big difference when she was not yet diagnosed and now that she is undergoing chemo. I do beleive that its all in the environment. There are so many carcinogens lurking around in every corner. Witht he pollution increasing on a daily basis I will not be surprised if it becomes and epidemic in the near future.

That is so sad. I've lost many members of my family over the years to cancer. I do think we have made advancements...just toooo slow. I'm thinking about doing some volunteer work with hospice patients...they would only have 6 months to live so it would/will be a difficult type of work.

Yes I deal with it on a daily basis my sister in law past away from cancer leaving a 7 and 17 year old. It is very hard on my newphew who is 17 and my niece well she isn't to sure what is going on other than mommy is not there. As she gets older it will be harder I am sure. Right now we just try to keep her busy. Her mom would have be 42 this year.
