Do you answer numbers you don't recognize ?

When the phone rings and you don't recognize the number do you just let the phone ring or do you answer to see who it is ? If you know it is a telemarketer or someone like that do you say that there is no one home to help them or just hang up the phone or do you take the time to answer there questions , and what about when it is a bill collector , so you ignore the calls or pick up the phone to talk to them ? If someone calls you and you see the number on the phone do you call back to see what they want even though you don't recognize the number or just figure they will call back if it is important ? What do you do and Why ?

I usually do not. I don't trust people calling now, since there are so many telemarketers out there and other solicitors. I will usually wait, let the machine pickup. People know that they can leave a message and if it's important I always make a point to get right back to them. I think I definitely live by the idea that if they didn't leave a message, then it wasn't important to them to talk to me. Everyone I know leaves me a message, so I call them right back and talk to them.

If I don't know the number I usually don't pick up the phone. I just wait to see if they leave a message or not. I figure if it is someone I do know they would leave a message just because they wanted to let me know they called or it was important. I don't like to answer those unknown number because I really don't like dealing with those telemarketers. Some of them just can not take a polite no thank you I am not interested.

I always answer because in the last month 3 persons called me and I didn't know there number but after I answered I realized that they are calling me for an interview to some jobs that I applied. I have persons that they call only one time and I don't know there number. Then I send them a text message and ask them how they are. Some times is an old friend how changed his number. I don't have problems with collectors because I'm a student and the only bill that I have is for my mobile phone and that bill is payed by my mother. If my mother doesn't pay it in time I receive only a text message that tells my that the last day to pay the bill is tomorrow and the bills details. Thats it. Take care, ScarFace.

i would answer first and see who's calling. it could be our family or close friend needed our help urgently and he had to call from a payphone or someone else's phone. if it's people from some sales company, i would still listen to whatever they have to say (if i'm free at that time). i might gain something out of it. i won't simply hung up or rejected the call, unless if i've already told them i don't want to listen to anything they want to say. just save the number and don't pick up the next time they call.

I don't really answer calls from an unkonwn number whether if it's on our home phone or my cell phone. They can just leave a message if I know them and it's really important then I'll get back to them, other than that I just ignore the call because it might be someone I don't know who's making pranks and stuff and I don't entertain such calls.

I have never had caller ID until a few months ago. I never use it. We never answere the phone. WE have a answering machine and we let it get the calls. We return calls as needed but we do not let the phone interfer with anything or anyone.

That will depend on my mood lol. If I feel like talking (rather, if I don't mind), then I may pick it up. Otherwise, I will just let it ring the nice music ringtone I have chosen.

Hello, samtaylorskykierajen ,i will answer the phone no matter i recognize the number or not because sometimes someone may hide their numbers or they are calling from a protected network which cannot show their numbers when they are calling me,may be those calls are important, therefore,it is better for me to answer them. I will say I am busy at that momnet to the telemarketer, most of the time they will hang up then and i will not answer to any of their quwstions. If it is a bill collector,i will talk to them to see i can do. If i see a number on the phone but i cannot recognize it,i will not call back ,they will call me if there is something important.

If anyone calls me on my cell. I simply answer the call, no matter who that person is. Because, there can be a possibility that the person might come in use for yourself. Then a great opportunity would have gotten lost. And if it is a telemarkeeter, i listen to that person for some time, and if the subject concerns me. Then i continue listening because sometimes these guys have really got some useful thigs to tell you.

I have caller ID and an answering machine, so I never pick up the phone unless I know precisely who it is on the other end. LOL, it could be an inlaw, and who needs to get stuck on the phone like that!

A great man once told me, "just because the phone rings, doesn't mean you have to answer it". Done deal. Unless it's my fiance or a call I've been waiting for, even with caller ID, I don't usually answer. If it's important, they'll leave a message and I can call them back. Everyone who knows me knows emails are the way to get my response. *shrugs* *giggles*

I ussaly answer all calls. If it is a telemarketing I hang up and I do the same for the bill collectior. And if someone has made a mistake than I tell them that so they won't call again. Sometimes I don't call to known numbers, because there are people who are annoying.

We don't have a caller id so I guess we do have to answer every time the phone rings. It really pays to have a caller id for security but unfortunately we don't have it.

I receive every call. If i felt it not necessary to talk i quit. As i got relationship with so many people I didn't get saved all their names with numbers in my cell. If I don't want to talk with them i simply say them i am busy and quit. that's it.

I do not keep a phone with caller ID on it. It is just a simple phone which rings and waits to be picked up. If I do not want to talk to somebody I tell him so or if it's a wrong number I tell the caller so and hang up. I do tend to keep the phone close to where I sit so that I do not feel agitated and respond harshly.

When someone calls and i don't recognixe the number, i pick it up just in case it is a friend using a different phone or if it is a friend who got a new phone or got my number from another friend. You never know when this hcan happen! If it is a telemrketer, i hang up. usually i will say something pretty rude to them becuase they have no business calling my cell phone.

I usually dont answer out of area calls or 1-800 numbers. If its a number I dont know and its local I usually will answer because it could be important and you only have like 30 seconds to decide whether or not to answer lol. If I answer for a telemarketer or some thing I dont want to talk to I will say Im busy and cant talk or say no one named Amber is here lol. It can get very annoying!

Well, I do respond to each and every call which i get whether the number is recognised or not and the only reason behing this is that there is a possibility that a person who knows me is calling me from another unidentified number and can be a n important call.
