The addicts are getting violent on our streets, how about your streets?

My co-worker is not a small man. He is 6'2" and about 220 solid pounds. We have had a problem with junkies shooting up in and around our office but they have always been non violent. Yesterday he goes for a walk on his break and this junkie doing the funky chicken down the sidewalk runs into him then punches him in the stomach. He wasn't a big guy and if my co-worker had wanted to he could have flattened him. He was too shocked and the other pedestrian who witnessed him get hit shrugged his shoulders and said that's downtown for you. Someone else said that there are bad drugs on the street right now, which would explain it. My small city has sure changed for the worse in the last few years and the police seem to turn a blind eye to the whole thing. The mayor is in denial. Have you seen any changes in your city or are you lucky enough not to live in a city in a decline?

Believe it or not but I have NEVER been to the city or a city as a matter of fact. I am 22 years old and have never even been more than 6 hours away from home. I am from the country side of NY. I am not farmer material nor city material. I honestly dont know what I would do if something like that had happened to me. SCREAM?????? I thank god everyday that I dont live in an area like that. I just wonder how people raise their kids in that enviroment. I wouldnt know what to do. Id keep them in hiding at all times, LOL
