I looked up at the clock on my computer just now and realized that it's 3:00 and once again, I've forgotten to eat lunch. I do that when I'm working on a project and I get zoned in on something. Especially when Katie, our administrative assistant, is off and she doesn't stick her head into my office and say "Let's go down and get something to eat." It's great to have someone who loves you enough to make sure you're ok...everyday.
Katie's in Texas on vacation this week so she couldn't stick her head in my door. The Coffee Shop downstairs closes at 2:00 p.m. So, I'm munching on a chocolate chip cookie that I found in my desk drawer. I'm not sure how old it is, but it still tastes ok. The cookie, along with the bottle of peach tea should hold me another 2 hours until I can get home to eat.
And yet, while it's important to feed and nourish the physical part of our body isn't it just as vital to feed and nourish our spiritual side every day?1 Peter 2:2 says
Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment. (New Living Translation)
We should crave spiritual feeding every day. If you don't have your own personal quiet time with the Lord, perhaps you should begin to think about starting one. Spend some time thinking about everything He has done for you today. Spend some time in prayer. Feed your spiritual body on the manna from God's word.
I love the feeling of fullness I get when I do!

Thanks for sharing this devotional. I was thinking I rarely forget to eat physical food . If I get busy my stomach is quick to tell me that is past time to eat. Unfortunately I too often ignore the signs that I need spiritual food every day .We get far to busy with all the things that we want to do in a day . We miss out on a lot of blessings this way .

I agree with you whole heartedly. Too many times in my life, I see some piece of my spiritual life that needs to be addressed, and ignore it, because changing would involve growth, and growth sometimes hurts.

Thanks for the post. I needed to read that. Yes, we have to feed our spiritual body as well as our physical body. God bless you.

you are welcome. I don't write a devotion every day, just when God leads me. Most of the time, it's 3-4 a week. I will begin to post them for you all here each day when I do.
Thanks for taking the time to read it!

Just like we need to feed our physical bodies, we need to feed our spirit as well. We need to spend time alone with God each day, meditating on His Word...the Bible. We need to pray to God and listen to God as He speaks to us.
After I do this, I feel such great peace! What an awesome priviledge it is to be able to talk to God whenever or wherever! He desires to have a close and personal relationship with us. He is with us all of the time and we are so busy with work, etc..that we tend to not think about Him as much as we need to. We need to set aside time each day to spend alone with the Lord.
Great post!
God bless.

Thanks Springlady! I write this devotion for a prayer chain that I moderate. We are in 6 states and now 2 other countries besides the US. If you ever have a prayer need, be sure and let me know, so that I can send it to the other prayer warriors. If you would like to join us, please be sure and send me a private message with your e-mail and I can add you that way.

I remember when I was a child, I had regular mealtimes and they were balanced meals fit to nourish a growing body.
Then when I became a Christian, I had the same thing. I was hungry to read from God's word everyday.
Now that I am older, physically older, I find myself not eating right on a daily basis. I do eat everyday but not at regular times and I often skip breakfast.
In comparison to my spiritual growth, now that I have been a Christian for many years, I find that I skip meals with my Heavenly Father as well. Why do I do that? I know I will find myself depressed and disconnected from Him when I do that.
I agree, it is so important to put God into your day, every day. I may not always read God's word everyday, but I do try to hear from Him through music or spending a little time alone with Him. But still, I find that I still skip meals, which isn't good.
Thank you for posting this reminder. It has been encouraging me to do what I know I should have been doing and haven't been.

I think we are all guilty of that. I know that is true in my life! And I find that when I do skip the nourishment to my spiritual body, that it gives Satan the toe hold he needs to fire his darts at me.
Isn't there a verse that talks about feeding on the word, and babes in need of milk? I may have to go and search for that.
