Oh..I don't know why he did not perfect it when you asked him. Maybe unconsciously he perfected counting it withiou noticing and he was nervous counting infornt of you. Just correct him with that because if not he will carry it until he's old. So as early as today correct him and tell him to perfect it just be patience because some children nowadays as I obrserved are impatience when it comes to that, they get irritated instantly. :)

It's very possible that one of his friends was counting before him and he heard the right way to say it. Or maybe he just wanted to get some sort of reaction out of you when he did it wrong.

Your kid is just probably teasing you! That's cute. He just want to count it wrongly just so to see what your reaction would be. That's nothing to be worried about. You can just correct that so that joking or not he will still be able to know that right way to count.

May be he wants to finish it fast,i don't think he can't count correctly as my kids often do this whenever they play hide and seek(but normally they can count accurately) so chill out.

I had this very same problem with my daughter who was in kindergarten this year. They expect you to do so much more now in their first year of school then what they used to. But my daughter did this on her counting, her ABC's, her phone #, address, etc. I would hear her reciting them in her bedroom or outside then when her dad or I asked her to count or something she just couldn't do. We decided after talkin to her teacher and my daughter herself that she was just being stubborn. For whatever reason she didn't feel she needed to show us that she knew how to do anything. But she eventually came out of it and I am proud to say that now she knows how to read at a 2nd grade level, she counts to over 100, etc. So even though it is frustrating when you know that they know it but they won't show you that they know it, try not to worry abnout it too much because he will eventually come out of it.

I agree completely...my son just finished kindergarten, and at home when he needed to do work, he would play the "i dont know what it is" game with me...everytime!!!! but then when i would talk to his teacher all i heard was how great of a student he is and he is so eager to learn, great listener, proud, hard worker....ya know all those things you wanna hear. but then im thinkin to myself..well whats up then, if hes doin so great at school then what am i doin wrong? but i think its just that kids always seem to do more with others than they are willing to do with theyre moms...we will be there and love them no matter what, they dont "NEED" to prove theyre accomplishments to us!!! And you are right about them expecting so much more than they used to in kindergarten...we just had fun, and in my sons school they have homework, and are expected to read 50 sight words by the end of the year!!! and they do math...i couldnt believe it!!!
