i have seen people bargaining to road vendors and small business men but they silently buy the same things from the big malls for even higher price without bargaining. why does this happen?

Well in small shops we can bargain and make it at a lower price. And even in small vendors they raise the price of the product and is not worth of it. In malls you cant bargain over the price and in most of the shops in mall have fixed price. And it is really embarrasing to bargain in malls.

I think that its just price gouging, they want to make more profit out of it. Ex. You buy something for ten dollars, and sell it for fifteen dollars. You are getting more than you paid for it, so you are getting better profit than the mass marketer. Its just greed really, or maybe they need the money you'll never know.

do u think the salesman doesnt know tht u are going to bargain. he will know and would have inceased the price. i have seen people buy things half the price quoted. and the salesman gladly gave it away. dont u think he has profited or how can he sell it gladly

I wouldn't bargain if I am shopping in big malls or chain stores as they have all their price tags out for every products. But when I shop in smaller stores, I would ask if they would have discounts but I won't insist on having them. Recently, some ladies told me that I could actually bargain in those big malls or chain stores (especially buying electrical appliances) too, I was astonished because I never thought it would be possible. She told me to ask for a discount and if they say that was the best deal, I could just "pretend" to walk away and not interested anymore. She said it works for her everytime. And I would definitely give it a try next time and try to save a few hundreds.

Well in small shops or with road vendors we can bargain and they sell the product at higher price even if it is not worth enough so we need to bargain. They dont even give garuntee of the product. While in malls in most of the shops there is fixed price written and they give guarentee of the products.Even if the product is damaged they do take a step to satisfy customers.
