I know that young babies babble a lot and even if they say MAMA they might not be associating that with their moms. Mine however, after many attempts by my husband to let her say MAMA didn't until I was there and she was reaching out to me. I was so thrilled! I didn't know what to say. We tried it again, without me in the room and got the same result. I'm so happy. What's your baby's first word?

My eldest daughters first word was 'up' as she used always be grunting with her arms up for me to pick her up so I taught her the word. My youngest daughters first word was 'row' because she liked the song 'row, row your boat' and wanted me to sing it over and over again.

I think my baby's first word is "didi" or "dede" which means his asking for his milk. He was just barely two or three months at that time when he said that. At first we didn't believe that he was really referring to his milk but whenever he's hungry he says that word together with a loud wail hehehehe. It's still long before he could say "mama". Oh how I really wish his first word would have been "mama" but I have no complains. He's healthy, lively and very witty. :)
