Would you change your life knowing that Earth will only be here until 2012? How will you spend your last five years on this good Earth? Will you make drastic changes or are you sceptical? Do you think it's possible for us to live in peace for the last five years, or do you think we'll carry on as normal tearing the planet, the people and peace apart? Do you think world leaders would change their attitude if we were told CATEGORICALLY that the Earth WILL DIE in 2012? Or will they'll be more blood shed right up until the big M hits us? Profound question but a good one to get into the weekend. Remember time is ticking

You mean if we had five years? I detect a Bowie influence to this discussion... I'd travel the world more if there were only five years left as I've seen very little of the planet. It would be pointless having children so I'd forget about that and just concentrate on seeing as much as I could of the world. I doubt it would stop war as people would be more determined to prove their point or get their land before our time was up.

Very true! It would be wonderful if just for the last five remaining years we have the world could throw down it's weapons and throw out their arms to embrace, but that is just living in cloud cuckoo land! Thanks for your response.

What is the Bowie influence? that sounds interesting.

David Bowie did a song called five years about hearing the world was going to die in five years, it's the first song on the Ziggy Star Dust Album

If it was proved that the Earth would disintigrate in 5 years time people would go mad .. anarchy would rule and a complete breakdown of all Governmental systems would happen .. People wouldn't just sit quietly to wait for the inevitable .. they'd rave it up .. spend every penny .. and woe betide anyone who got in their way .. murders, rapes, terrorism would all increase to frenetic levels .. riots and shop theft would be rife .. There is a Governmental and Military 'understanding' and agreements from the majority of countries that when (and that's not an if!) the next huge asteroid is expected to hit the Earth the citizens of this world will not know until the shadow falls upon the Earth ... They already have in place military orders to take over vital services .. and news black outs other than important survival info will occur .. I think the next 'severe' risk asteroid is due to hit in 2028 .. they've plotted it will miss be a mere 30,000 miles .. but that's near enough to cause catastrophic weather conditions and of course panic across the world .. Interestingly there are never less than around 100 Asteroids that astronomers are keeping their eye on as they are likely to come very close to Earth .. Read more about dangerous asteroids here: http://www.cnn.com/TECH/space/9803/12/asteroid/index.html

I think you have hit the nail on the head and I agree with what you say. Sadly, instead of joining together and living our last 5 years in peace I think alot of people will go crazy and just do exactly what they want. So as you say we will never know if this is going to happen because of these reasons. Lets just hope we never have to experience it.

I do think the world is going to change drastically in 2012; I have been looking at this matter quite a bit as of late. As far as how that information changes how I live, I am constantly trying to make sure that my body and mind are in good shape because I want to be prepared for whatever it is. Something tells me that a strong body and a mind that can bend will be essential.

Hello, wolfie, honestly i think the world will really be finished soon, may be in hundred years, fifty years,or even shorter. I do not doubt on it since there are many signs supporting this statement. For me,i will not change my life if i know when the world will be ended,i will be enjoy my life just as usual,i do not have much money to spend extravagantly. The world may become a mess as everyone try to do something they have not done before as they know they will die soon anyway.May be the world leaders do not want to rule their countries anymore, they want to enjoy their final moment in the world.

Although I agree with Patootie comments and I don't think we would ever be told, I would have to spend as much time with my partner, children and family. I would try and get as many credit cards and loans as possible and just have a really good time.

well i believe life is for living so i would carry on but not at the expense of others however we are living already in a world where greed rules. i think some people will not believe it, others will get stressed and some will just carry on as usual. Me i would live a few more of my dreams and not waste my time on things that really don't matter.Take out a huge loan and travel.

Well..I've looked into alot of prophecies and legends about our time..and, they all say we'll either be wiped out or after some conflict live in peace for a long time afterward. So..I suppose in actuality it could go either way..depending what all we do about things. How well we take care of our earth, our fellow people..etc. I've been prepared in any case. Expect the unexpected, right?

I've been hearing rumours + made up stories like since 1999 and each year the earth ends in a different way. Comet, 2000 (explosion), global warming, The dearths going to loose it's gravity.. Times always ticking but as a matter of fact only time will tell if what they say will happen. None of which I really believe but that's just me. Kudos, ~Joey

The 2012 year thing is interesting. It's not written anywhere that earth will end then (my personal believe is that the world can't be destroyed, but we can be!), the Mayan calender just ends there (December 21st 2012). It's easy to think that it means it's the end of our time, but it could also represent a complete change, a new age. And no, I wouldn't change my life even if I knew for a fact that we'd all die in 2012. You can't escape the inevitable.

OMG! BRIAN! You know about the Mayan calendar! That is SO awesome! For those of you who don't know, according to Mayan legend, the Earth will die 12/21/2012 unless all 13 crystal skulls are found and brought together. How much you wanna bet some idiot told Pres. Bush about this and he is hiding at least pone skull? i mean, he is not smart enoguh to think of it on his own...but if he had help... Anyhow, i don't think we will live the ast 5 years in peace, IF this legend is true. Not very many people really know about it in comparison to th e world and, unfortunately, if some people knew, they would take complete advantage.

I do not think that I would personally change much about my life.... However, if people in general believed this I think that we would see even more caous....there would be, in my opinion, alot of crime increase....what would they have to loose.... Now that I think about it...I would probably become more cautious about my families comings and goings; plus I would probably start carrying a pistol with me at all times...for my safety... I do not want to know when the world will come to an end...I would rather live the rest of my days in ignorant bliss...

I think that is the Mayan prediction that the world would end in 2012, I think most people will live their lives up until the day comes, I dont know when or if it will happen any time soon but it is a good idea to prepare now, like a food storage, medical supplies, water storage and extra clothing because you never know when any type of disaster could hit you, like a pandemic, storms or nuclear disaster, be prepared.

With respect to my friends here, I wouldn't be spending much time tapping away at a computer screen!! I think that if a "Big M" were to happen, we wouldn't be told anyway. The whole place would go t!ts up as people start to panic. i think that personally, I'd just have as much fun as I could with my wife & daughter and get into as much debt as possible to fund it!

Is that so? Well...If I knew that the end of the world would be in 2012 than I would do everything that I've always wanted to do. I would travel more, take music lessons...Basically, I'd try almost everything. There would be no stopping me!

If the earth will die on the year 2012, I don't think anyone will be able to escape from it. I will spend my last five years by continue doing good deeds and wish that the world will unite as one and make life easier to live. There might be people who will go paranoid and scared of losing their lives. I knew of one relative like that. She kept saying what will she do if the earth will end soon.

another person immediately thinking of Bowie here. hehe. the thing is, I don't think we can actually destroy the planet. She's going to outlast us. we may, through our own stupidity, render her uninhabitable for human beings and for many other species of animal. but after we've destroyed ourselves, She'll still be around, and She's just going to get on with it without us, and better off for it. Five years. what a surprise. if you want a real treat go to youtube and type in five years molko. a really fantastic cover of Five Years.
