1 - Choose a day and a time to start.
2 - do not buy in packs. Do not keep a stock of cigarettes/tobacco.
3 - Tell your family and friends to are going to quit tobacco. Use and want their support.
4 - Get rid of all cigarettes and ashtrays in your house and office.
5 - Make your ho,e tobacco free
6 - Nicotine craving lasts for 5 minutes. Wait it out and postpone lighting up each time when you get the urge to do so.

Yes, these are some very good tips, if you are a strong person.
I have tried this, but as the first responder has said, it requires strong determination in order to complete such a task.
If you have very bad addiction that can not be controlled, then there are other solutions. They have medication out there to control these cravings if you are intent on quitting the habit.
