For those who already know my passion for stationery items and for those who don't ..I have just bought another marvellous thing I was longing to have..I am proud to announce that..I have my own seal with my two initials..so now I can use it when closing letters with sealwax or when I want to add my initials on something. I am very excited!!!

WOW - now that is true old fashioned way not to mention that it used to be done by royals in the past. I have a question - where do you get the wax as it has to be warm, right?? I cannot wait to get a letter sealed with your waxed initials!

my dear friend, I bought both the seal and the wax..I was waiting for a seal with two initials because my name is Maria Beatrice and i hate leaving one initials out when sealing..of course this seal is meant for people who have a name starting with M and a surname starting with B..but I don't mind about this. My name is rather uncommon here in Italy and I am skeptic I could ever find a seal with three initials!!! but I like signing myself ..MB..it is a friendly way and it is a part of me now..

That is so cool and old fashioned. A nice touch to letters. I hope you have a nice list of friends that you can send letters to. A treasure indeed to have in your possession. I have seen something like this in a local museum.

oh I am so surprised you find a seal such an uncommon thing..I didn't imagine they were not common where you lived..yes they are not so used but I am an old fashioned lady under some aspects..so I looked for a seal with two instead of one initial and now I am the happy owner of it!!!

It is good to know there are others keeping the almost lost art of letter writing alive. Many of the younger generation call this snail mail. My mother and I send each other letters and notes and cards in the mail all of the time. With the use of e-mail becoming more common these days I fear the newest generations handwriting will be awful as they are not getting the practice needed to develop lovely cursive or print. My mother is a nurse and many cannot read her handwriting because it is often sloppy or written quickly or partially in her own nurses shorthand. As I have read her writing as long as I can read I have no trouble with it and often have to deciver it for rel;atives. This keeps us all writing and answering those lovely letters. I enjoyed reading through your discussion thread here. Merry Be!

dear tess, first of all let me tell you that I love your rose...I love roses and roses of those delicate colours are my favourite!!! Thanks for this nice reply..I love writing...writing in all its forms..and I love calligraphy, too. I think that handwriting is a sort of art and a beautiful way to express our personality..so I am always happy when I have the time to write a true letter and a dear person to write too. Of course at the end of the day, my handwriting can be awful because I got tired after a long day ...and I am a doctor..but in any other occasion my handwriting is quite good and surely it speaks about myself and my feelings!!! I hope we can become good friend.

That is fitting right in with your theme. Have you also a very pretty fountain pen to complet your set? I also like those heavy desk blotter sets. They make me feel like sitting down and getting that letter written! My husband inherited his grandfather's seal, which is mounted to a pinky ring. I suppose the children will get it one day, although it is never used.
