Uncomfortable situation.

Last week, my daughter and I went on a shopping trip with my friend and her mother. We were having a good time, then several hours later, my friend and her mother got into a huge fight. My daughter and I were uncomfortable to say the least, and just kept our mouths shut and tried to stay out of it as best we could. Afterwards, my friend was very upset and embarrassed, and apologized to us. I told her there was nothing to apologize for, that these things happen. Have you ever been in a similiar situation? And how did you react?

that is really a very awkward situation where you really cannot interfere with them because that is something personal for a mother and daughter thingy. You really could not enjoy your friends company anymore since they are busy fighting or quarreling over something that is not your business anymore.

Yeah, they were airing their personal business in front of us, and it wasn't pleasant.

I do not like to be caught in those situations but have been. I just sit back and keep my mouth shut but I have seen the time that I really wanted to say something but didn't. I have been in a situation when I was able to just leave. I couldn't stand being around it any more. You handled it the right way, though, in my opinion.
